my dad bought a 1937 chevy coupe and it has a bad frame does anyone know if a sedan and coupe are the same and what years are interchangable like 37 38 39 40 etc i found a clean 39 frame but the guy who has it doesnt know any help would be appreciated thanks
However, Chevs of the '40's lists trunk floor panels for '37 - '39. All their floor panels are listed for '37 - '39. Behind the rear wheels is where the previous place says they are different. I guess they can't be much different.
No differences between '37 coupe or sedan frames. Also, no differences between 37 and 38 Chevy frames that affect anything. 39 is a bit different in the rear, but could work with 37 body, I'm sure. I sold my '39 frame so i can't be specific about how 39 frames are different, but i had planned on putting a 37 body on it until i found a 37 frame.
For whatever reason, '37 frames run straight back from the top of the axle hump to the bumper attachment. '38 frames drop down directly after the axle hump, then parallel to the ground (more or less) to the bumper. All other differences that I can recall were very minor. My one reference states that '39 frames are the same as '37 - '38. Cosmo
I do not know if this helps or not but I saw this on CL do not know the guy but it is a complete frame and running gear http://kansascity.craigslist.org/cto/936310737.html -COS
