I may be doing a trade here for my model a for this 39 standard coupe. What do you guys think? My A is bone stock, no rust ever, this 39 is nice, an old resto that has been sitting. Has a 85 hp flatty in it. This would be an even trade.

    My 29 A

Sounds fair to me, because I don't fit in a "A" and I really like '39 Coupes.

Me personally I wouldn't do it but I'm also partial to model A's.

  4. I'm partial to '39's whether standard coupes or Deluxe coupes, so you know where I stand.

It looks to me that both parties are going to get a good deal!

I would have a hard time either way! I love model As, and I love '39s. Had plenty of both too. But I gotta say, from the practical side, the '39 looks a bit more shall we say, "usable" in it's current state. A bit more comfortable for the long haul too. Not to mention less work to set up as a daily driver....

I'm glad to see that nobody is saying it would be a steal. The guy who owns it is a real straight shooter and we want to both know that we are getting an even trade here. I really like my A but I love 39-40 coupes with a passion.

I owned a beautiful '39 Standard for a while a few years back. The only problem with the car......................it was BORING. The Model A has the potential to be way more Hot Rod than that '39 ever will. Keep the Model A.

I like the late A coupes.
If it was a 39 deluxe i'd say do it....
But if you like the 39 standard...
    DO IT
    hell it's still a coupe

I like the '39. I like a the A too, but I really like the '39. A few inches out of the front, bring back some shine and I'd drive the wheels off that thing. I think there's another guy on here with one...

I'm with keeping the A, but I like lighter weight cars.

I have had both, I would go with the 39. If you leave it stock it will go fast enough so you're not in the way. It has hydraulics, should stop better. And I think there are fewer of them vs. model A's. Oh yea, they ride better and have a lot more room. Chuck.

I really think I would keep the A,there's not much paint on it ,so you can plainly see how cherry it is.
The '39 looks nice, but that paint could be hiding some evil body work.

One more vote for the 39....very nice looking car and trade...much more room!

  17. I'd make the trade. I think the 39 is a harder car to find. It's a good deal in both directions and that doesn't happen to often.

I'd do it. Both are nice cars, and like oldschool66 said, both guys will come out on top.

    I like them both ,

    but for me

I WOULD GO WITH THE 39 ALL DAY LONG...

Because I would fit in it better and be more

comfortable ON any trip around town or out of town,,,,

ultimately it has to be your dicision and your s alone you have to drive it and look at it. all we can do is tell you what we think , i like both cars , but i like the 39 coupe alot , if it was an even swap and both cars were about the same in quality , id take the coupe , good luck with your choice ,

I like both of them , value-wise I think the 39 is way ahead though .

  26. How long have you had the A? How well have you looked over the '39 restoration? Do you know the quality of the workmanship? It seems like a win-win trade.

What Waterford are you in? There must be a million of 'em.

If you decide not to trade. I would trade my stock 31 coupe for the 39
and deliver it and pick up the 39.

I don't know, that A of yours looks pretty sweet.

I will admit, that is about the most even trade I have seen. Neither party is getting the upper hand.
