Technical Need to ID a Ford Block

    Hello,

    I stumbled across this block in an old ford. I really don’t know much about fords, as I’m a Chevy guy. Any info will help thx!

    looks like a 1970 302. But I could be wrong.

    what year is the car it's in?

    The top of the water pump mounting boss on the block is even with the top of the deck. That makes it an 8.2 deck block (221, 260, 289, 302). Bore looks too big to be anything but a 289/302 block. Looks like a left hand water pump for the lower hose, that's 1970 or later. Think Squirrel nailed it!

  9. The date code cast on the 60s Ford block, for example using 1966, will be C6xx.
    A 70s block will be D0xx through D9xx, for 1970 through 1979.

    Keep looking for that T-Bird's 390 V8.
