I have 3 pairs of chrome steelie wheels, and i am starting to research tires. This truck has original fenders, but up-dated suspension front and back. I'd like a bit of rake and maybe whites if i can afford them. And, with the 3rd, larger rims, i figured i would look for some drag radials as well. Here's my sizes 15 x 6 front, 15 x 7 rear, 15 x 8 rear. Thoughts and suggestions? Not sure the back spacing on the 8's - i need to measure.
My 54 has an AMC Pacer front end(used dodge diplomat steelies) and an unknown GM rear axle( 6" or 6.5" wheels) I had to space the rear out about an inch. I will order some bolt on adapters to the small Ford pattern(1") and then they will all be the same.... tires are 7.50x14 2 1/4" W.W.
Lighting is not great in the garage yet.... There she is... The 7.50's are tall, I had 205/75/15's up front, the 7.50's are taller, about the same as the 235's that were on the back.
A 235/70-15 rear and 215/70-15 front, looks very good on these trucks.......an opinion based on experience. Ray
