Need swaybar...............

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Winged Avenger II, Jul 30, 2010.

  1. MY '41 Poncho has got some body movement, especially on left turns. Body is scrubbing rear left tire. Anybody know where I can get a rear sway bar for it? It's a '41 Business Coupe. Thanx.

First off, check sll the bushings, etc. on the rear axle mounting setup and make sure they are in good shape.
Is that Poncho paralell leaf springs like a Chevy of those years or coils or what? If it's paralell leafs, then if you have good shackle bushings and pins and tight mounting bolts should hold it. Setting up the rear shocks at an angle by reworking mounts will help also.
A panhard bar , or "sway bar" shouldn't be needed if the above are done.

I put a rear sway bar from a '79 TA under my '40 Plymouth coupe. Used the TA mounts under the U bolts and shortened the upright bars. This thing corners real flat now.
