Need some help with old wheels/tires

I bought an old homemade trailer that was made with an old car or truck axle. Tire size is 6.00-16. These seem impossible to find other than some expensive Coker repops. Is there a similar size that will work with these rims? Or a more modern rim with the same bolt pattern. Pics attached, I want to say mid-late thirties based on the hubcap?

 

So is your plan to use the homemade trailer and you want safe tires ? Those are 1936 to 1939 Ford "wide five " bolt pattern and you won,t find the same in a modern style.. You could try light van/pickup tires. First you need to know if the rims are not rotten under the outer edges and for that the tires will have to come off.

 

Yeah I want to use the trailer and I need some semi-equivalent tires. Good point on checking the rims prior. Is it true these rims are only 4 inches wide?

 

I googled 6x16 tires found a place called Priority Tire . They have some for $98 .

 

Speed way has some wheel adaptors, Depends on how much you want to spend.
Or you cound find some 40s Ford Brake drums that will bolt up. Any condition no brakes needed
The bolt pattern is 5 on 5, a Ford pickup wheel

I believe 6x16 is the original size that my tires shipped with. You would need to do the math, but I am running 235/75R15 radials, which are almost the same diameter of the originals bias ply tires.

You might be able to get the bias plies from simpletire.com, I bought some bias ply Deestones for a trailer I have with split rims. Bias ply also require tubes.

I think you're better off swapping to radials, but you need the wheels for your hubs. Previous owner replaced the wheels with 6-lug 15" radials for my 1946 Chevy 3100, so I just bought new tires in 235/75R16, now she's sporting Yokohama AVIDs.

Most of the ones I see are tractor tires, similar to Simple Tire. Priority does have these, but I don't know anything about them, hard to tell if they need tubes or not. That will make a difference on the type of wheel that is needed for the tire. These are $112.99/ea.

Tires aren’t cheap . Well nothing is anymore except free advice and it’s worth every penny lol . Hope you get things sorted out .

 

Changing the axle and wheels to modern trailer may be more cost effective and safer.
