I just got back from my first Lonestar Roundup and had a great time. It's going to be hot here in Florida soon, which means no more shows. I want to go to 3 or 4 more shows this year and looking for recommendations of the can't miss shows and nostalgia drags. Anywhere in US works. Thanks guys.

  2. Come on up to Atlanta Dragway next month and hit The Gear Jam.
There's a lot going on in the Carolinas.
Looking forward to seeing that 55 in your avatar.

Yup, like Stevie said, come up to the Gear Jam in May--big block party/cruise in the city of Commerce on Friday night, featuring live music from Hot Rod Walt and the Psycho Devilles, and then a traditional rod n custom show, vintage drags (heads-up racing) and huge swap meet on Saturday at the dragstrip.

We had 200 vendors this past weekend at the NE Georgia Swap Meet, and the Charlotte Autofair was this weekend, so it affected my turn-out. (I put on both, so it'll be that swap meet at The Gear Jam).

It's less than 8 hours from you--you can leave at 8:30am, check into your hotel and be in Commerce in plenty of time for Cruisin' Commerce.

If you want to attend another awesome traditional hot rod event, then Vintage Torque Fest is a must attend. I have attended for several years and it is so damn fun. You won't be dissapointed. It will be held May 3 & 4 in Dubuque , IA. Then Sunday May 5 is vintage drag racing.

Also, The Iron Invasion which will be October 11 and 12 Woodstock, IL

Another huge event is the Minnesota Street Rod Associations Back to The 50's weekend. There are over 12,000 (yes that's 12 thousand) PRE-1964 hot rods at this show. Literally hot rods from every state, Canada, and some from over seas come. If you have never attended it's something you really need to do atleast once in your life. This year it will be held June 21, 22, 23 in St. Paul, MN

If I could make three more shows this year for sure.. I'd go to the Showdown in PA next month, the HAMB Drags in MO in August, and the ROG in NJ in the fall.

A bit of everything there.. And you get to see cars doing what they were built to do!

Like previously posted the Hot Rod Reunion in Bowling Green, KY is the one you don't want to miss. Non stop nostalgia drag racing. If it ends in KY its got to be good.

I will second Vintage Torque Fest. Had a great time there last year and am counting down the days 'til this year's.

Symco Shakedown in August is another favorite of mine. August 9-10 in Symco, WI. Although August in Wisconsin isn't exactly escaping the heat. I came home with one helluva heat rash last year. Still had fun though.

My show in September will be perfect fall weather though. Mississippi Mayhem, September 13-14 in West Salem, WI.

Pre-65 hot rods and kustoms. Pre-75 chopper, bobber and café racers. Friday there are three bands playing, Mississippi River cruise, outdoor theater, vintage (heads up) drags... Saturday: vendors, swap, workshops, pin up contest, vintage bicycle relay race, flame throwing, four bands with Hillbilly Casino headlining and whole ton of other activities to keep you entertained.

A good time is guaranteed to be had by all! www.mississippimayhem.com

I think it depends a lot on your interest.

If you enjoy Tri-Fives I would suggest the Classic Chevy Show in Pigeon Forge, May 17-19. You will see nothing but several hundred of the nicest 55-57 Chevys in the country. It’s an older, quite crowd.
    <O:p</O:p
As mentioned, the Holley Hot Rod Reunion at Bowling Green is a blast from the past. You will see a lot of street rods / rats / and traditional. But it is performance oriented and the vintage racers are the stars of the show. It’s one of my personal favorite events.
    <O:p</O:p
Cruisin the Coast in the fall held on the Gulf coast is getting bigger and bigger. You will see thousands of street rods and some of everything else.
    <O:p</O:p
I’m sure you know about the Turkey Run in Daytona, Thanksgiving week.
    <O:p</O:p
I’m looking forward to checking out the new Gear Jams the 10th of May and the Steel in Motion throw down in Union, SC the following weekend.
    <O:p</O:p
All of the above are in the South East.
