NEED HELP: Throttle Jammers / Great Lakes

Gentlemen,

A friend of mine is trying to research a 1954 Kurtis 500S he has recently come across. The goal is to trace the cars history back as far as possible.

On the dash is a brass plaque marked:

Any information anyone can providewill be greatly appreciated. I know somebody out there in HAMB-land must know something about the car, owner, the Great Lakes Rod & Custom Show or the Throttle Jammers Club.
