I scored this rear at a salvage and can't figure out what it is. Small ford lug. 52.25" from flange to backing plate flange. 17 spline axles. Any info would be great.

could be a 49-56 ford car rear? they look like that, with the funky ujoint, round drop out third member, small Ford bolt pattern, etc.

found this pic on the internets, for sale claiming to be from a 56 ford. Looks pretty close from what I can tell

  7. That axle appears to be a Spicer, looks like the one that was under my '54 Ford. HRP

I don't think those are Spicer axles. Ford used Spicers on the wagons and trucks in that era, they have the removable rear cover, not the drop out center.

  9. You are absolutely correct Jim,My rear axle does indeed have the removable rear cover. HRP

Looks like my 56 Ford sedan rear and U joint. If I can make a 32 Ford rear end live then this will probably work for me. I'm too cheap to buy a 9" Ford rear until it is necessary.:D

  13. This one is behind my shop that I pulled from a 1950 Ford,,looks like the one posted. HRP
