Schmidt Machine in Fairbury Nebraska. Seems to be doing a different Flathead every time I'm in there. Done several for me and they've all worked great.

So he does total rebuilds & tuning also I presume? I’ll keep him in mind because that’s only a couple hours drive for me.

CC; Elson only does the machining.

However, if you want a good (great?) team Saltflats (on here) is rebuilding a nailhead for my Model A. He and Elson are about 5 miles apart. If the 401 should need any machine work it'll go to Elson. They have teamed up many times.

Saltflats has done other work for me before. Note: I can fabricate a bit but make NO claim to be a mechanic. He builds his own race motors and does well with them so I'm looking forward to having a healthy nailhead.

Mind to disclose where in "Southern Missouri" you are?

That’s good info. Reason being, I’ve got a ‘33 coupe being shop built, yeah I know but it was above my skill level. Curry’s shop in Nixa did a ground up build on the car except mechanicals.
The Flathead was supposedly rebuilt along with the 39 trans prior to me purchasing the car.
It’ll be done mid-summer so fingers crossed on engine health. But if not, it’s nice to know I’ve got options somewhat close to me.
I’m an hour or so east of Springfield.

Auto Machine in St. Charles, Il does EXCELLENT work. You may have to wait a bit, though.

    CC,
Let me know you need help with tuning that flathead or if anything comes up. I have a private shop in Springfield, but I am more than willing to help out a fellow HAMB'er or do a little side work if needed.

Thanks for the offer & I’ll surely keep you in mind. I’ve learned how to keep a stock Model A running fine, plus several OT rides, but this’ll be my first Flathead.
