Projects nate's truck.

  1. It's a bit hypocritical of me to say my favorite threads on the HAMB are build threads.. and I'm building something.. and I don't have a build thread.

    So here it is!

A while ago my friend Paul decided that he had too many projects so he put his '46 chevy pickup on the market. I wanted to buy it but I was starting to get serious about the model A coupe. He had it sold a couple times but the deals went bad.. and his price dropped. What else could I do? :D

It was a super deal for a really complete project so I figured it wouldn't take long to put it together and then I'd have a cool truck to pick up parts for the model A.

Paul had a vision I guess.. it's got a pacer front end. I went back and forth on what to do about it, but he had rebuilt the whole thing and he did a nice job putting it in, so I decided to go with it and see what happens.

Here is what it looked like when I brought it home, pile of truck:

The project is on a tight budget (aren't they all).. so I got some rear springs from an s-10 and the rear end is a camaro. I got that stuff put in and bolted it all together and rolled it out for a look.

Obviously I have some work to do on the stance.

I blew it apart for some work on the chassis:

    The engine is a 350:

and last night we fired it up for the first time:

so that's it so far. it's still an ugly duckling, but I'm working on that. I've got to get some decent wheels and tires, but it's getting real close to being a driver.

Nice work. Plenty of room for a blower under that hood!

    Any updates?

  19. mechanical stuff is pretty much wrapped up, it should be moving under it's own power soon.

  20. What angle are the lower control arms sitting at presently?
    Looks good mechanically.

  21. in those photos the arms are pretty much fully sprung, it's got some room to come down.

  22. That's what I figured. Looks like the uppers are on the bump stops.

  23. got the front end adjusted a bit.. I'm liking it!

Your making great headway Nate on your truck and it shows. Your doing a good job and although you still have a long way to go body wise just keep up the quality of your work like the quality of the project so far and it will be a thing of beauty. I love the old trucks as most of us hotrodders do and have one in my collection. You will find out just how much thumbs up you will get while on a cruise and be surprised.

  29. thanks Ray! I did ht the cab with some primer the other night, turned out pretty good. The cab is the best part of the body, the rear fenders are the worst, but I think they're workable.
