So after my tire disintegrated last week I am going to have to put new rubber on the Buick. The debate is to go another set of narrow white walls or wide whites this time? I am looking for opinions and if someone could photo shop wide whites into the pic so I can see what it would look like that would be awesome! Thanks for your respected advice!
I like the narrow, more serious business. I could see the wide making the car too busy/clownish with the paint.
Narrow, wide would be overdoing it on that car. They were already getting away from the really wide white walls by 57 anyhow and with the flames and wheels on it you have more of a mid 60's build look than a 50's build look.
If you want a 50's custom feel, go wide. If you want a 60's custom feel, go narrow. If you want to be a rebel, go vogue. Just watch out for the HAMB police. Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
I whipped out a black rendition just to further complicate things.... He he he! Either way I love the car, really think whites take away from the black background of the car and foreground of your flames. Simple is always better to me. Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
Want to stand out in the crowd?,,Go with the wide whites. If you want to be subtle go with the Black walls. HRP
More and more I'm liking the look of the narrow over the wide. I think you have more wheel choices with narrow too. Wides can sometimes be a bit much and takes away (in my opinion) from the rest of the car.
Another vote for wide whites. That's what I run on my '54. Firestone bias with black wheels, trim rings, and spiders. Nice car, by the way! I checked it out at Mass.
I'd go Wide if your gonna run those whites on that car, but it looks pretty tough with black walls, so that would be my vote!
I'm thinking the wide whites but with caps. Actually 57 Buick caps with a bullet in the center look cool with the wide whites. I built a 55 Chevy back in the late 50s with that set up and they looked good. Got lots of compliments. Later, Dick
