    Good morning HAMBers!

I have a quick question, since searching came up dry. I'm going to fab up a fuel line for my 61 GMC this weekend using that poly-coated brake line from NAPA.

My question is: do you have to remove the poly-coat from the end that's going to get flared? If so, how would you remove it? I was thinking a quick pass on my wire wheel would do the trick. Also, would the poly coat allow it to slip in the flare tool?

    Thanks!

Ditto. Cut and flared some a couple of days ago. Worked fine. Nobody asked, but I just can't get used to seeing a coating other than zinc on brake line tubing. Maybe that's just me.

I'll just give it a quick touch on the wire wheel.

My first thought was that the poly coat would have a "gasket" effect on the sealing surface, but over time it could suffer from creep effect and cause a leak. I'll feel better with steel-steel sealing surface contact.

    Thanks again guys!

never had one leak because of the coating on the flare. I have had them leak because some incompetent ass running the flaring tool.

    I work alone...............

Never had any problems flaring or with leaks after flaring them on any size line.

Alright, looks like I'm going to just cut & flare without screwing with the coating. If it leaks, I'll kiss it on the wire wheel.

    Thanks again for the replies!
