those are not nailhead valve covers.

  3. Look like gold chainer street rod chevy covers to me. Why do you think Nailhead when you see those?

  4. And why didnt you just ask the owner of the car? Even if he didnt build it, it might have been able to tell you what shop did.

If I remember correctly, those valve covers were popular back in the '80's. It was suppose to make your small block look like a big block if I remember the ads. The added benefit, you could take the top cover off to adjust the valves. Some of them had the Chevy cross flags in the center.

I don't see the resemblance to nailhead covers. They don't even change the angle of the top to make them look more nailhead like.

You aren't going to have a lot of luck finding billet experts on here at any rate.

  16. they just look similar to me, the photos make then angled more than they are. they looked almost flat.

  17. Yup, old street rod stuff, never even that popular back in the pastel days when they were on the market.

  18. fair enough, just liked that they were different had people looking and questioning what it was. thought they were cool

A friend of mine used to cast somewhat similar two piece valve covers back in the 80's that you could have custom tops made for but that didn't last too long.

Looks like an Inglese intake. Wouldn't surprise me if the covers are part of the deal.

While they don't look "nailhead" to me, I won't say anything bad about finned aluminum.
Is that rough casting between the fins?

  26. Have you ever seen a nailhead ?
