If by special you mean a stock one. The finned ones fit fine with most aftermarket intakes, the stock intakes usually hit. Sometimes you can mill off enough though.

Russell Martin sells these on Ebay and says this is the only aluminum finned valley cover that can be used with the 66 Q-Jet intake!

Sure spacers will cure the problem and milling might make it useable but this engine is in a closed hood car not a yawning show car so its no big deal to use a stock valley cover. I'll take the valley cover to the next swap meet and bring back something else I can use.

Ok, niiice thread!! Puttin a stock dual quad 401 Nailhead in a Model A...limited radiator space. Z'd channeled etc...If I put the radiator over the crossmember it will only yield me 16 " tall core (plus tanks) What radiators and size etc are you guys using in the early cars with the Nailheads? dont want top run hot!

Here is my 66 425. Factory dual quads and have the air cleaner too. The chrome valve covers are now on Titus's wall I think!

Have a 364 flywheel setup in the classifieds too...

Here are some better shots of my Dual Coil. Not sure I'm going to be able to run it because of firewall clearance. May have to change that. I need one of these driver side headers, anyone? 57-58 from a 364.

    401 Nailhead, originally from a 62 Wildcat

    • Weiand Valve Covers
    • Eelco Finned Valley Pan
    • Nicson Front Cover/Mount
    • Chuckles Garage Blower Intake
    • Littlefield Supercharger with 40t and 41t Pulleys Slightly Overdriven, 15psi
    • Runs on 117 Octane VP C-16
    • Cragar Belt Tensioner
    • 2" Pulleys
    • High Flow Valves
    • MSD Distributor
    • MSD 6AL
    • MSD Boost Timing Master
    • Custom Grind Comp Cams "Big Mutha Thumpr"
    • Performance Valve Springs (Unknown Make....Motor Built in late 60's)
    • 10.5:1 Custom Pistons (Unknown Make....Motor Built in late 60's)
    • Custom Rods (Unknown Make....Motor Built in late 60's)

There is some kind of unknown hocus pocus and witchcraft done to the rocker assemblies as well.....they have been modified for for better oiling and I assume performance too. The crank is stock, but seems to have been toyed with as well. This motor was built for a 60's drag boat and never used......tucked away and forgotten.

I picked up this 62 401 with a dynaflow this last saturday. It came out of a 54 ford hot rod truck, and now it's gonna go into a 1926 buick sedan.
So leave some speed parts for me.:)

Thank you zman! Item is relisted and link above is correct now.

    Question about another part:
I bought this nailhead timing cover recently. It is NOS item and came with nice old package also. I've seen better casting work during my life... polished it a bit yesterday and will continue tonight.
Don't know how rare these are..? If they are not, does someone have similar and possibly knowledge which oil seal I should use on it? This old "shoelace" -type seal has totally dried out. Some part number would be great info or possibly some tip which car uses oil seal of same size? Would not like to use that old style oil seal...

You can use a timing cover seal from a Buick 455. CR#19786 or FederalMogul 474272
