60 401 w/ stock cam new bearings, service manual says that they need to be reamed after installation. Not positive if I was sent undersized bearings by mistake, or they really do need to be reamed after intstallation. Anyone deal with this? Stupid me did not check if they fit the cam before installing.

I remember reading that in my old blue Motors manual when I was studying up for my rebuild of a 61 401. Perhaps at one time in the long history of nailheads tight cam bearings was a frequent enough occurance that it warranted a specific mention. I consulted nailhead gurus who simply told me to check for free rotation by hand of the cam ( I would do that on any engine assembly), and if tight, deal with it. My cam installed snug but rotated freely.:)
