I need some help identifying this roadster I just found. From what little I can find it appears to be a 30-31 Studebaker roadster. Can anyone help me confirm this... and maybe get me a lead on a par of doors and maybe a deck lid? Thanks!
Chevy for me too. Whats with the big hole in the firwall recess though. I never seen that before? Or was that from the lever action 30-30?
That's a 31 Chevy from the headlights, cowl, trim, dash, and quarters. Deck lid is repoped as is almost every other piece of hardware you would need. Get it and build a sharp roadster!
31 Chevy roadster... I could REALY, REALLY, REALLLLY use that windshield and the door hinge parts Possibly the cowl band and taillight stanchion too...
Another thing, the pass side 1/4 panel looks like it was cut off behind the door? Is that the rest of it laying inside the car or??? Like I mentioned earlier, if you decide to part it, I could use a few parts. That car could be used to put a few others back on the road. I see some good parts on it still...
Actually in 31 and 32 GM's the cabriolet with roll up side windows had a windshield frame that bolted onto the cab and folded down as well. But, this car is a roadster without side windows as if you look close you see that the roadster windshield is too far forward to allow a seal with side windows as the cabriolet frame did.
Thanks for the help guys. This car was previously my great grandfathers, so i'll be putting out the effort to find the rest of the parts. also this is the first roadster i have found... i'm stoked. the pass 1/4 is all there, its just bent in at the door jam.
Nice find and being that it was your great Grandad's (how cool is that!?), you HAVE to build it. From the looks of the other tin pieces lying around in the field, maybe search the area with a rake or metal detector for some of the parts.
That's the first roadster you've ever found??? If it was your great grandpa's, how was it ever lost??
You're right, it's been so long since I worked on a '31 Chevy Cabrolet, I just saw the big knobs on the posts and figured that was what it was. There isn't a channel in the posts for the door glass to slide into so that is a roadster after all.
OK... That changes it. Definitely redo the car. Doors are tough for them(I know, I'm looking for them myself as mine are garbage). There's a local guy to me redoing a 31 Chevy roadster. I think he still has the measured drawings for the wood in the body. Might help when reframing the car whether you use wood or steel. Keep us posted. Oh, you might as well join the early chevy social group "Termites & Bowties" now
Pinky Randall in Houton Lake, Michigan used to make the roadster wood kits. Ten to fifteen years ago they were repoping bodied in steel, call Brookville I think they know who was stamping them.
I found this photo of a 1930 Chevy using a Google Images search. Looks pretty close to the rusty roadster.
