I have 2 of these boxes, they both contain vacuum tubes and have two pigtails. The identification on it says Guide C6, model no 560. I believe they may be for the radio on a Cadillac, but not sure. They are not sealed so they wouldn't be for under the hood, so they must be from under the dash. I have searched and searched and came up with nothing. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

PS I think they came off of different cars.

  3. Hey, Carshow girl, I would guess their radio related, possibly for an add on speaker for the rear seat.

But then again, It says guide on it which sounds like lights, or headlights....
Mabey this is the control box for the autronic eye... The headlight dimmer system with the eye-pod (not I-pod) that sat on the dash.

I notice some of those wires are green and blue, which I belive were headlight high and lowbeam wire colors. One pigtail would go to the headlites, or dimmerswitch, and one to the control on the dash. This is my guess...

If it is to make a time machine, then it looks like I am getting a 59 caddy! woohoo

I checked the other thread, and it looks like it was never solved.

Even though the model is c5, it sure looks like it. Thanks for your help. I guess the next question is does anyone have a wiring diagram that includes this, my shop manual on my 56 has nothing.

I looked a bit more on the web, seems the Guidematic was used from 58-66.

I'll look in my 61 chevy manual.

it's not in the chevy manual.

I did find a short section about auto headlight dimmers in the 57 caddy manual, but it's the older Autronic Eye, not the newer Guidematic that you have.
