And...when you throw an old engine block into your pickup for traction, use an IRON one--the extra weight helps a lot.

doesn't look billet to me. Looks cast. and it's obviously been run a while, so... is it a test bed block?

    Sweeet!

How cool would that look polished?

    Are the cylinders sleeved?

    Is it standard bore?

    • it's a cast alloy flattie block - 59A decks, 8BA bellhousing pattern
    • Main webs are fat; mains are studded with dowel locators concentric to the studs as opposed to the interlocking crescents of a stock block
    • center main is a 4 bolt
    • valve guides look to be SBC dimensions and made of bronze
    • valve bowls are HUGE
    • valves look to be bigger than 1.60's
    • bores look to be bigger than 3-3/8ths
    • exhaust flange outlets look waay bigger than stock
    • Motor looks to be dry-sleeved
    • valve reliefs look to be bench flowed (not at all like an 8RT)
    • and...the damned thing was lit and run.
that's about all I noticed on the first pass...what did I miss?

That ain't no real flathead. REAL flatheads are covered in GUNK!
Baked on forever, "The Blob that ate Philadelphia" type gunk.
That's just some silly assed re-valved, relieved, big bore race motor with some use on it... I like the mains setup. Where's the crank? I'd like to see that.

    So who's was it?

I hear ya! If there was a way to lay that shit down as pavement - we'd have roads that lasted forever...

Betcha it had a 180 degree crank...

Didn't Grancor sell these back in the day? New aluminum flatheads. Surplus military.....or is it a new one from Motor City Flathead and Shadow Rods? Maybe FlatheadJack got off his ass.
