Today when getting ready to use a cutoff wheel, the picture of your hand popped up in my mind and I made sure to be as careful as I could to prevent a similar injury.

  6. Finnegan off Roadkill calls cutoff wheels, Deathwheels.
I've had a couple come apart, but been lucky. I always wear thick leather gloves, cause I need my hands for work.

On the mirror subject, I have an English one, with a spring in it.
Don't know how many times people have whacked into it, and it just springs outer the way.
    Best mirrors I've ever seen. IMG_20161102_192110.jpg IMG_20161102_192126.jpg

  7. Mirrors sure are in the firing line wherever they get mounted. In regards to the cut off disc (5''), it didn't come apart, not really sure what caused it and leather gloves would be minimal protection.:( JW

Roger that! I had a 5" one twist and jump across the back of my hand and it went through a brand new pair of gloves and cut a slot down the back of my hand in a heartbeat. o_O

    Jeff, those mirrors are awesome!

  10. I will be using one of these each side, not sure which. Will try them both and see as I like to see whats going on behind but don't want them to stick out like my sore thumb. May try them Saterday.JW

When I bought mirrors for my '50 Ford I found 3" peeps with a convex lens. Talk about PERFECT! You can see everything you want with them, all the way down to the rear tires. Couldn't find them this time around though.

  16. Looks great Eric! Seeing all your progress makes me want to get back on my T but I am still waiting for Derrek to finish my floor and he has been way too busy building chassis. That can be a problem when you depend on others to do your work. In the mean time looks like I will be moving forward with my A Coupe, new body has been patched in the lower areas and I will be installing new wood soon. At least I can do that myself.

This is another one of those great threads, that I'm gonna have to go back and read from beginning to end. Looks like your T is turning out great.

  18. Thanks. The only downside for something like a Roadster, would be how far the spring pokes out, on the inside.
I tried to find the thread where I was told what they were, by an English Hamber, but no luck yet.

Six months ago I thought your car would be done before mine. It's first show will be GNRS, I'm HOPING it'll get chosen for the Suede Palace!

I've been eyeballin' the A and wondering how you were doing on it.

Wow, I'm TOTALLY flattered! Thank you.
Yes, but I do have a Sport Coupe that needs some love and attention! Let us all know if you find what they're from please.

  20. While still on mirrors, I tried this on for size, its longer ( about a 5''arm) than the ones Larry is using but I like it. Was going to put the short one on the other side but its the next size up (3/8'') so I didn't want to drill a bigger hole than I need to. The arm is the same length as whats coming off. Sorry for the shitty pic. JW

  29. It looks a bit distorted due to swelling and the cast just being removed. See how it looks in four weeks.
Eric, any news on some more eagerly awaited progress? JW
