Took my 55' stude to the GS Nationals this year. I could go play because of the 455 Buick motor. Went with some of my Buick drag racing buds. Car shows, other races, cruise nights, you name it, never since I've owned this car have so many people checked it out. Also I've never been teased about it so much. But it was all fun. I've included some pics of about the only drag cars that would fit here, (almost). The 65' skylark was 340 Buick powered and had the windows full of nhra class winner decals, the owner has drag raced it since he graduated from high school. The corvair is one of the most well built cars I have ever seen in my life. You would think it came from the factory like it sits. I know there's corvair guys on here. Thought they might like it. Heck, they've probably seen it. It sits on a 78 Monte Carlo chassis, has a mild pump gas 455 and goes 10.80's in the quarter. You look under the hoods, either end, the workmanship on this car is incredible, you would swear it came from the factory this way. What is now the trunk, truly looks like a trunk. And under the hood now looks factory. It was amazing how little he changed. I'm gonna try to track him down to get some pics of under the hood and trunk. Got too busy racing and didn't get much in the picture dept this go round. The "Buick Nut" belongs to George Pollakis, my best drag racing bud for almost 20yrs. He finally broke into the nines with his car after many years chasing it. I was darn proud of him. If anybody is interested in more pics of the corvair, let me know. I'm going to try and track him down. Enjoyed the hell out of racing at Beech Bend.
I am 99% certain I saw that Corvair at the NSRA Annual Meet in Springfield, MO a couple, few years ago. It is EXTREMELY well done. Nice Studie! Ray
