It's this strange stuff that's really fun to play in that the natives call snow. It got up to 64 yesterday and most of it melted. You would think it was 80 out my son ran around half naked and threw lots of snowballs. It's very strange to us.

All together like one big happy family! Can't put the Henry J in my one car garage until the ground freezes a little more so I won't get stuck in the mud!

Buddy the town we live in is about 4600 people. The town that is next to ours is home of the "World Famous Hot Rod Farm" it's 2.8 miles from our house so we'll have some car stuff going on near us.

Okay did the volvo box swap the parts needed to do the swap are as followed. I repeat do not waste your time with Jamco. Order from fatman the Borgeson 3/4dd x 3/4 48 spline steering joint and mounting bracket. From f100 central order the 1 1/2" column saver. You have to pull the volvo pitman arm off and flip around. I cut my column 7 " but plan to cut one more out to bring it in a bit more. I brought it in 3/4" from stock. I'll take more pictures of the underside soon. If I would have found my pulley sooner swap would take about 2 -2 1/2 hours. Before stock was 10 turns to go from full one side to others now it's 4 1/2 times. It takes about 50% less effort to turn. Also I don't have to 3 point turn the court behind my house now.

Dude, I have been reading your page and i'm glad everything has worked out for you. I got out of the Marines about 4 months ago and started down the path of hot rods and customs at wyotech. Working on these machines has been a therapy all in itself. I totally relate to the feeling of not looking over my shoulder, at least while i'm working. Thanks for the inspiration and Semper Fi!

  11. From threads I have read in the past the volvo swap can be a PITA and tricky.
Nice job, probably feels like power steering now:)

I was in from 93-97 semper fi! It's funny now I don't even think about the old neighborhood really. The new place is nice some day I hope to turn the 1 car garage into a 30'x35' workshop. Good luck at wyotech hopefully you are putting the gi bill to good use. I used all of mine plus got extended a year. Where we live now all the kids play with each other and Sundays everyone stands at the too of the hill and talks as the kids skateboard and scooter down it. People can talk all the smack they feel they have to but North Jersey is beautiful. People are nice roads aren't all beat up you don't have to pump your own gas. Still getting use to that one. ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1401671818.335540.jpg plus there are cool old underpasses like this. Good luck with your ride if I can help with anything please ask.

It's pretty easy. The hardest part is getting the stock stuff apart and making the 3/4dd on the stock shaft to fit the Borgeson joint. A good pulley puller is a must. I bent a crappy one I had and got frustrated but found my good one and knocked it out in about 2 -2 1/2 hours. Also you can save a huge headache by not using Jamco and save about $65 too.

The biggest thing is how you only turn it 1/2 way around to turn corners and into parking spots. Not power steering but better than it was.

Thanks I finally broke down and sided with my wife and got a daily driver. So now I might start on phase 2 might do 1 5/8" chop or might just give it a crazy paint job haven't figured it out yet. I was hurt at work and can't really work on cars yet till my arm heals good news is I don't need surgery just physical therapy and rest. Tore a tendon and strained another one in my elbow. Did paint the rims baby blue two days before I got hurt

Did drive to the Liberty Science Center on funcation when my son was off school. He picked the "race" car over the daily driver.

I'm lovin' it - drive that sucka ! Cool that your boy would rather drive it than a "common" car too :) .

I'll vote for NOT chopping the Shoe . The Coupes look so slick the way they came , no NEED for a chop . Like you said , give 'er a cool paintjob instead .

  19. I like your idea of customizing with paint - go wild; and leave the top..

There, that's about 2 cents worth!

My son tells me we should take the daily driver back to where I got it.
I am pretty sure I'll just paint it. I love crazy Watson style paint jobs but also love metalflake and candies. I like and respect lowrider paint jobs but wouldn't want one. I'll figure it out when my arm heals.

How recently? Seems everyone in the last five years has reported horrible experiences.

  25. Bummer about the arm, hope for a speedy recovery.

If it was a sedan I'd say chop it, but coupes look good the way they are and are hard to get to look right chopped IMO. Go custom paint.

The side of the house and the back of the attach garage/ guest suite. We also have a one car garage that some day I'll build a 30'x35' garage on. It doesn't have power and my son's Henry J calls it home.

I know a few months ago my buddy Blake tried to get the steering box swap stuff and ended up driving weeks later after getting the run around to get the stuff. He was there 3 times because they had the wrong stuff. . No need to get stuff from them if you can help it..The column saver is from f100 central and you save money buying it from them direct. Fatman have the bracket and the borgenson joint. I have jamco stuff on my car. I just would never shop with them again. I called them when they were in the process of down sizing to the new shop and they said they would call me back never did I called them a few times just to see if they had the stuff in stock got the run around so I said screw it and went with fatman and found the column save on my own.
