This is my recent impulse buy. Its my first Ford. 56 Mercury Montclair. I fell in love with it and had to buy it. Drivetrain and suspension is all rebuilt. Interior is new. The body has ZERO rust. Not a pinhole. My insurances agent asked if I was going to paint her and I said HELL NO! Im a Caddy guy so I probably wont keep it forever but Im going to have fun with it for awhile.

My cousin had a 55 Montclair and his cousin had a 55 Monteray (spelling?), the Montclair Merc-O-Matic would get second gear chirp on the upshift and the one steel pack and one stock muffler would just talk. Just a neat car, yours is certainly in the same vein!
I am soooooo jealous.... One of my all time favorites..rode in one like that many many times double dating back in about 1960 ! Great score !
Classy car. When I was in high school (graduated in '60),one of my friends brothers had a black '56 Mercury two door hardtop. That was the car we always borrowed to try to impress the girls we took on double dates to all the big school dances. It even worked once in a while.
