Event Coverage My Photos from Jalopyrama 2015

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Dan Greenberg, Nov 3, 2015.

  1. Geez, I didn't know he was cooking outside. I thot that's why we gave him use of the kitchen.

  2. If he had been cooking inside the entire building would have filled up with smoke.:D I was parked 2 or 3 cars downwind from his operation at Annapolis one year. It took forever to get all of the grease off of my car.:)

  4. Well, I wasn't in charge of the food, I had the show merchandise to worry about. I remember the year in Annapolis you are talking about. We had the merchandise tent set up directly across from him. That was the year the big storm was coming and the wind was blowing exactly opposite of what it usually did. All of us in the merchandise tent were hackin' and gaggin' all day. We smelled like pit beef for the next week, too!

You guys need to invest in a good Beagle...one of those will have a car licked clean of every molecule of meat smoke in no time.

    Any more pictures of this?

Here is another of the many very unusual vehicles that showed up - something I never saw or heard of - a 1948 Manning.

Ill' look DJCruiser. Thanks Gary T. And yes - it was definitely smoky back there, but a lot of the time the wind was blowing the other way.

If anyone knows the year on this or other details, I would love to hear them. I am assuming it's a T, but let me know if I am mistaken about that too. I wish you all a very happy and safe Thanksgiving filled with family, friends, great food and drink. One of the many things I am thankful for is all of you.

    I'm guessing it's a 1950 331 Dan. But I'm wrong more than I'm right! Joe

  15. I'm not an expert on Cad engines, so I cudn't tell you by looking at it. But, I believe that car belongs to Philadelphia Modifier, Andy Krauss. If I recall the history on it correctly, it was built in 1958 by Andy's grandfather and has had no significant updates since then. So, a 1950 331ci is quite plausible.

Well, I will go with 50 331 unless I hear something more definitive . Thanks. Joe and Wayne

I don't know any details of it but it had an unique torsion bar front end.

I was hoping to get more done on this thread this extended weekend, but of course too much else was going on. Not to worry - there is still a lot to come

On the T touring noted above by Greenberg...I'm curious too. I neglected to hunt down anyone connected with it at the show.
I remember a show car from circa 1964 that I think might well have been that car...it was in the big shows I could get to in Washington DC and some relatively nearby places when I was a kid. I remember the molded rear fenders AND the streak of rubber on the body right under the fenders where the slicks bottomed out...so, is that an old car? Area history? Shows in early 1960's??

    Hi Dan

Great pics as always and thanks for posting them, boy I sure don't understand how some of these cars are finished off these days

I sure love 37's but that grey one above is a bit strange looking, sure ain't like it was 50' years ago when I was running mine with a nice hand rubbed paint job

Thanks for the info on the T, Bruce. With any luck, someone will know more about it.

DND - I don't think it was really finished off at all. It was bare metal for the most part and I think this was an attempt to preserve some of how it looked back in the day. It had been around for a long time. I talked with the owner briefly, but since I'm more than a little forgetful, I don't remember all the details. I have saturated the color a bit and and improved the contrast, so maybe that is contributing to the perceived look.

If anyone knows the exact year of this Plymouth, please let me know. I know it's between 46 and 48.
