I just thought I would share my newest project. It's a '54 Pontiac Chieftain Catalina. It currently has a straight eight, and it is 6 volts. Plans right now are to lower it all the way around and fix it's problems. Maybe hot rod the straight eight... I think it is cool, and should be a fun project.

Very nice. I always like the Pontiac threads. I think that transmission is supposed to go in the car though. :D

    Those look great lowered.

Nice. I love those. That interior is really clean. Keep that straight 8 if you can.

That 54 is gonna make a great project. What are your plans? Id leave that 8 in it. ITs a super good motor.

Thanks everyone! Here is the plan right now...

I will keep the Straight 8, maybe hot rod it some. Slamm it on the ground, maybe shave the door handles. Paint it a cream yellow with some perl in it. And leave the top white. Clean up the the stainless and replace what is needed, clean up the interior... and have fun with it. Since it has power steering and brakes it's should be a dream to drive. I have not delt with Straight 8's before so this will be a learning experience.

I also like the idea of a hopped up Pontiac straight eight ! Maybe some simple customizing/lowering and nice custom upholstered inside. Leave the dash as it came from the factory ! Maybe just have someone clean the gauges up. Looking forward to progress as you make your new ride a Cruiser !

I had one of those in the late 80's. Pontiac Catalina 2 door hardtop with the straight 8 Flathead. Smooth smooth running engine! While tuning it up, you knew you were done when you could balance a nickle on edge while it was running. It was long legged too! Shifted into high gear at about 65 and then it was like the engine had shut off, just got very quiet and glided down the highway.
Great car. One I wish I had been smart enough to have kept ...
