So ever since I sold my 40 pickup, I have wanted to get another old truck. We were in Vantage for the flathead run on the 17th. There were some really cars there, but this 39 pickup really stood out to me. I was looking it over when the owner, Chris (kidzintha34fodor) came over to introduce himself. We talk for a while, then split. I almost told him if he ever wanted to get rid of it to let me know. The whole way home I was thinking how I would really like to find a 38/39. When I got home I logged on the H.A.M.B.. First thing I see in the classifieds is Chris' 39! I worked a deal with Chris and was headed to get it that next weekend. He did an amazing job on this thing. Looks good, sounds good, rides good, and is Fast! (flathead fast). My plan for it is mustang 2, jag rear, 350/t350, flat black with flames... Ok, the real plan is to do some very minor changes, but will pretty much remain the same. Mostly I just wanna drive it!
That truck is so awesome, I am so glad you guys worked a deal out! It was also cool to go meet Chris at his place and look at all his neat junk
I showed the pictures of your '39 to Henrietta the '38 Ford pickup. She was impressed, flashed her headlights and gave an approving horn honk. x2 on the 307-- that's what's in Henrietta, painted Ford flathead green and thinly disguised as one of the extremely rare Ford Experimental OHV engines.
I don't know Corey, Maybe you should do the 350/350 mustang II and a 9". Then you could find some of those old school "Boyds" billet wheels, add some billet accents like air cleaner and wiper blade arms, oh yeah definatey billet door handles. Then top it all off with a bright color, Hmmmm, How about Fushia? Hehehehehe! I'm glad you got it! I know its in the right hands!
Paint it with a brush, write 'beater is neater' down the side, put on a pair of flamed shorts and an Elmer Fudd cap, then sit in your lawn chair at rod runs saying 'old skool' at the top of your voice.
I like where you are going with this! my dad has some of those wheel, but I think they go with that f100 Maybe they will be going to you! haha. My dad said that said that 39 is the nicest driving flathead car he has ever driven. He want to drag out his 37 pickup project now!
I know he is. We were just joking about the 307. I would never pull a flathead out to put an overhead in. Flatheads Forever!
