At a local cruise-in recently ,overheard a conversation and a Model A was mentioned..Asked the guy about it and he'd had it his garage nearly 20 years..It was complete ,titled, and for sale..and cheap.. I went straight to his house ,looked at the coupe ,buried under 20 yrs worth of junk, and promptly paid him. Took weeks for him to dig it out ,but now it's at my garage. I guess it pays to be nosy at times !! Here's some pics...Will do the frame /running gear this winter...Body next summer.. Hope to fast track this one.. i'm really starting to like 30/31 Ford coupes. hard to see in the pictures , looks like `30 grille shell with `31 splash aprons.
36-3 : Its titled as a '31...S/n on motor is Sept '30...From what I read , Ford was using up '30 parts and also using '31 parts at that time...Makes no difference to me..Some "A" freaks might get their panties in a wad tho...
either way , it looks like a great start. full fendered? highboy? A or `32 frame? i REALLY like the looks of a `30 on `32 frame rails. i've been told by the previous owners that my `30 coupe actually started out in life as a `31.....i have it titled as a `30
36-3 : I'm still throwing darts at the board as yet...One minute I'm gonna do this way , the next minute I'm gonna do it that way...leaning towards A/'32 rails ,no fenders , etc......Then again , full fendered is what I originally planned... Any fresh input appreciated...
I did the very same with my roadster..........fenderless.....fenders......fenderless........fenders.....and on it went until I tore it down and well, just left the fenders off! Kept the fenders and running boards just in case I change my mind!
Congrats - looks like it just needs and good washing and then hit the road or, do it the right way like you have planned (sort of)
rust runner : Thats the sheetmetal/cab '40 Chev p/u truck....I was going to buy that also and flip it, but decided against it..(too many projects going at once..).Owner has NC title..
