The buggy spring suspension will not hurt you is you just "tune" it by removing leaves for a good ride combined with good shocks.
Inside, use at least a new seat spring bottom cushion, available new from Car-Line Mfg. in Beaumont TX 409-833-9757 or Snyder's in New Spring field OH. Experience the comfort of a correctly sprung seat for a little over a $100 bill.
    Enjoy...

I had one, the only thing I regretted was the 12 inch tall windshield. I had to wear goggles.

It was a (if not the) pioneer of four bar front ends. Home made from old Ford tie rod ends with a V-8 60 axle.

    Love the car BTW.

  13. Iam older than you. I do not plan to quit for along time. I keep in shape by crawling under the car to pick up stuff I have dropped. A day in the garage is good excercise.

I loved 77 sunset strip and watched it mostly for the car. The buggie springs give one of the most comfortable rides and the old rearends say hot rod.

I've had 6 "T" buckets. Some reason I keep going back to them. The old knees don't bend quite as well anymore so I've gone to a 32. But you never know, after seeing your build......

Three month's has gone buy since I started this thread so I thought I give an update for anyone thats interested. The car has since been blown apart for final welding and more fab work. Frame and many pieces were then sent to the painter and many parts to the plater's(ouch). After the painter worked his magic the assy began.
Many trips up and down off that damn concrete floor.I had forgotten how many fitting's,different sizes of bolt's and nut's it takes.
Here is a few pic's of where i'm at today.Body is at the painter now.

Hey, I'm in that 21/65+ catagory too. Sure know how you feel at the end of the day!! I can still do everything today that I did when I was 21, but it takes me all week to do what I used to do in 1-2 hours!!
Great rendition of the 'Kookie' car. Enjoy!!

Forgive my ignorance, but why did you only paint 1\2 of your frame? The front half is metallic blue and the back half is black. Is that because the body obscures the frame from the firewall back, or some other reason? It seems that the back 1\16th of the frame can still be seen in some shots.

Now I'm worried about what I have to look forward to in 3 years! My wife says I've got the mind of a 16 yr. old hotrodder at 61.

  26. I know that was an old race car trick so you didn't waste time or money on a part that didn't make it go fast... but I see this draws less attention to the frame under the box!
