Bodywork and custom touches are completed for now. New white headliner and visors and aqua carpet have been installed. I'll leave the primer spots on it for the summer. I hope to give it that watsonesque paint job it deserves next winter! It's cool to cruise the junkyards in your mild custom!
Nice car. White walls really make the whole car pop. Please keep us updated as you go forward. Thanks.
I spit coffee all over my monitor on that one. It was an instant trip back to talking to my grandfather about my 1970 LeMans Sport back in 1978. I had put hijackers and 60s on the rear, and 70s up front, and he said the exact same thing!
Thank you! I'll definitely have some updates next fall... for now, it's time to CRUISE! I'm also working on getting my '40 Sedan on the road, so once that's done I'll get back to the body/paint on the Tbird. Never had it on eBay. I had considered selling it (There's a '57 Ranchero I've got my eye on) but I couldn't bring myself to do it. I need to complete this vision I've got in my head to Watson/Winfield-ize this car! After I'm done with that I may sell it, but I REALLY love how this car drives and cruises, so we'll see...
I put 10,000 miles on mine last year. It'll most likely get less than 5,000 miles put on it this year, and I'll probably start tear-down right after the Hot Rod Hill Climb in September. The old 352 needs a poor man's rebuild, it leaks a bit, but runs great.
I'm a early bird guy. But I really grew up as a little kid being around these squarebirds. I liked the interiors a lot. Might have to expand my horizons and start looking for one. Yours looks great, like what you done so far.
Love your T/Bird especially since the correct WW tires, but I think the wheels need to be painted black to set them off.
I haven't driven (for more than 5 miles) or paid any attention to my Thunderbird in over a year... I put 25,000 miles on it in the first two years of owning it including two trips to Minnesota and all over the state of Colorado... I've got a couple projects in the mix since buying the Thunderbird, including a '64 Chevy van and '50 Ford panel truck formerly owned by the Zupan family in Pueblo. At any rate, I miss driving this car, so I've been collecting parts for it (mostly all the rubber seals and things needed after a repaint) and plan on repainting the car, and rebuilding the engine in the next year or two. It needs some attention to the interior and a new set of tires, too! In the meantime, here are a few pictures.
