If it is crooked it will look sloppy and a bit non professional at least in these eyes but unless a guy actually has a business to go along with it it see*s a bit silly to this guy.
But if all the "cool" guys have it why not you too.

Your truck is so rad without the door art. I think it would take away from the truck. But its yours and that's just my opinion. No offense intended. ;)

  5. Interesting looking graphic but I don't think it works on the truck. If the flames weren't there I would consider lettering the doors but I don't think they work together. If you must letter it,I would stick with a a standard Roman letter with small serifs and a thin outline and no graphic.Shading doesn't work well on a black or dark background.Just my opinion.

Looks crooked... I'd make it follow the door top or the window area.

I had the same problem on a 49 chevy door for a client, lot's of measurements and I finally got it!

I think the design and detail of the graphic look fine, keep in mind that every one will have an opinion on art. For me the biggest problem is that you have already got 3 colors on the truck and now you have added the white as a fourth. You may be able to age in the white sign base or give it a ripped torn effect, maybe make it look like aged parchment, but again there's just another opinion.

First off if YOU like door art then you put it on your ride who cares if someone else likes it.....
It has nothing to do with being "cool" it's personal preference...

Lose it. I think it distracts from the vehicle as a whole. When I squint my eyes, all I see is a white square, and not the truck.

  16. I thought long and hard about painting something on the doors of my 32 pickup and even sketched out a few ideas and talked to a local sign painter,,,I went back and forth and finally realized that almost every other truck I saw had something on the doors so I opted out and now I'm glad I did.

Honestly I think it's a personal thing and if you like it that's all that really matters. HRP

It think its cool with or without. The truck is badass and can pull it off but its yours and you have to love it. if not that is what sand paper is for

  19. no stencil but put some wide whites on that thing and it's done.

Yeah, the truck looks good without it. Door art is too trendy. If it's a real shop truck and you need it, that's one thing but just for door art's sake I think it's too played out. (my opinion)

Coby (church) is talking about the last image of the artwork, not the stencil. If you squint your eyes you see a white square which is the total shape of your artwork.

I love door art....on trucks! (it just doesn't feel right on cars...JMO)
I agree it's better if your gonna promote your business.

have you considered doing it in red & white to match yer flamage???
or doing the lettering in light gray with a red outline, and the logo in red??
(the gray will tone it down)

Reaper71 is correct. It's all about what you like. You don't have to own a business to have it look cool. It just like saying a B-29 Superfortress flying out of Tinian or Saipain in 1945 didn't look cool with all the nose art they had. It was geared towards personal taste and building morale among the Bomber crews. I think it adds some character and is pretty cool, when the right colors are chosen. Google bomber nose art on Tinian, you will see what I mean!

  25. Original door art was used to attract and inform about a business. It was done by actual sign painters and was meant to be legible. It was not done to be hip and artsy craftsy.
So much of what is done trying to be traditional is not the way it was.
    Just a thought.

Like flames, all these wings, dice, devils, etc, etc, are SO effin' overdone it's not funny. There are probably more cars done, in each state today, then existed in the whole dam country back then that had that type stuff on it. Over done, over done, over done.
You asked for opinions, that's mine.
