Yes he did! Tony is a great guy and friend. I admire that he stuck to his guns on this build and kept it all period, legit stuff. We helped him out with a few things on the car and we were happy to. The car really turned out bitchin and is even cooler in person! Here's a fun picture I took when I drove my own T Roadster (now sold and residing in Australia) over to Tony's to hang out and see the progress on his T.
We helped set up the front axle so I can answer that. The brakes are '39-'40 Lincoln with '36 wide five drums. These drums have the correct bearing offset to line up the shoe surface with the "deep" Lincoln's. The spindles are '32-'34 which have a built-in steering arm for the drag link. The steering arm originally is fairly straight and was reshaped to follow the curve of the axle and decrease the angle on the drag link as much as possible. The axle is an original '33-'36 that was dropped, '33-'34 wishbone uncut, Model A spring/perches/shackles. The steering gear is an F-100 truck and the adjustable drag link is a shortened '32-'34 tie rod. The spindles use a special kingpin kit (that we package and sell) which places thin Torrington bearings between the spindle and bottom off the axle. This is necessary because the original early kingpins have a big knob on top (as part of the mechanical brakes) which would not otherwise allow the brake plates with their deep spindle pockets to fit over the spindle.
Bitchin' +. This place has crazy- talented folks. Does she draw air thru rad OK with fan that close? I guess it must if modern folks do it with electric fans.. as long as the blade pitch is right
That T is just nasty (in the best possible way). Great job on the fan as well; most guys woulda' chickened out & went with the E-fan. Very well done, sir. Would like some info on your seat construction...that's exactly what I'd like to do with my T; at 6'3" I could use the extra inches a seat like that provides.
Great car, any pics of how the exhaust is routed? Is it baffled? Are the pipes stainless, and was stainless exhaust tubing in use in the late 40's? I'm doing a very similar '26 and I like this setup for exhaust, would love some details.
I saw your T parked in the father's day swap meet last year, way up in the northwest corner. It couldn't be more right on. Cudos. I love the leaf in the floor pan; you aren't Canadian are you?
very cool T! you are missing a couple post 48 items like the steering box and whatever that master cylinder is off of though! both my 32 and my 28 have similar chassis, minus the 8ba in the 28 and the 283 in the 32.... love it!
Thanks 117harv for the jump start, Just brought it out for a spin Sunday, nothing's changed, just keeps on pleasing me. T.
I'll add another, ' I love it', to this thread. Very cool. I'll bet it sounds great through those pipes.
