    Howdy Hambers,
I'm excited about my recent score off of craigslist, for once I was the first caller on the for sale ad. A little background why this recent purchase of the craigslist 55 is so important to me. In 2006 I had really Cool 55 Chevy 2dr. Post Gasser. My father had cancer and no insurance, bills had to be paid, so I had to sell the 55 Gasser at the 2006 Spring Daytona Rodrun/Swap. This was the 55 I parted ways with:

So the 55 above got a new caretaker and the bills got paid. My Dad passed in 2007 "F" Cancer, my love of everything mechanical from tractors to hotrods came from him, I grew up around his hotrods, he had some cool ones. Fast forward 7 years, I am a 47 year old Marine about to graduate in the spring of 2014 with my Aeronautics degree from Embry-Riddle in Daytona Fl. I hardly have time to tinker with anything, so tuesday of this week I had a few minutes to jump on craigslist and look at stuff local to me. I see a 5 minute old post for a old 55 Chevy 2dr post dragcar, no pictures in the ad. Price seemed good, so I called, I was the first caller, the gentleman described the car to me, sounded like my dream of owning another 55, might be possible, the car was a hour and fifteen minutes away and I had a test in the morning to study for, I said to myself you better go check the car out and worry about studying when you get home. So, I jumped in econobox and headed to where the 55 was. I arrive at Tim's house, he greets me and takes me out to the garage, Tim opens the door to garage and I am smacked in the face with the vision of a Badass 55 Chevy in front of me, a brief few minutes of negotiation with Tim and I am the new owner of this:

I got home late, studied and got a "A" on my exam. For once everything aligned perfectly and I own the makings of very Wicked 55 Chevy Gasser. It will be getting a straightaxle in the future, I have a nice collection of period correct gasser parts I have collected over the years that will go on this car. As my time is limited due to college, the build will be slow until I graduate in the spring, there will be a build thread in the future, stay tuned!
    Another pic:

Very honorable of you to have sold your 55 to help pay the bills for your dad and sorry to hear of his passing. Think maybe your dad help line up the stars to make this possible? Best of luck to you in the build......

Thanks everyone! I am beyond happy to have this 55, I think my Pops is smilin. This will get a straight axle and I will build it as period correct as possible and still be able to pass tech to race it. I hope to be able to make some passes with Quain Stott and his Group of Gassers at Greer Dragway South Carolina one day. Got to see the unvailing of the Moonlighter and meet Mr. Gene Cromer back in May, a very big honor for me plus I got to watch Quain and the boys run the Gassers, absolutely the best drag race show I've ever been too, if you guys ever get a chance to see Quain and the boys run the Gassers do go, they put on a Hell of a Show.

sounds like you deserve a break like this - you have it right about keeping school the priority. put a ad in Wanted section here for parts you need - state that you are on low budget and right deal might show up.

Great score on the 55 and your test. Sorry for the loss of your dad, I'm sure he had a connection with you getting this 55. Give us your plans, Drivetrain, wheels/tires, etc. ?
