I bought a 65 Cevy C10 flatbed for my weekend hobbies. I'm not looking for a show truck, just something respectable to drive around in. I'll post the my progress.

first thing i needed to do is cover the seat. it had been eaten by a rat. i gutted the interior and went with a saddle blanket seat cover from www.seatcoverman.com . it was only $50 shipped. i got some scrap foam and rebuilt the base and back and fixed the broken springs and wires.

once i had the interior pretty much stripped, i began on the outside. i removed the 150 pound homemade toolbox from the bed and took off all the wood from the flatbed. most of it just crumbled but some had to be sawed.

Keep the flat bed and build some cool stake sides for it.

my front P/S fender was crumbled so i got one off my friends doner truck. i also got new glove box insert and door, door sills and a gas fill neck. the pile of debris on the ground is the 3rd and FINAL rats nest i found. the first one was in the seat. second in the floor vent and the third in the cowl.

    took off all the hardware.
i.e. mirrors (inside and out), door handles, dash bezel, light bezels, emblems, etc.

powdercoated most of it satin black.

the custom cab trim was pretty messed up. i started with a magic eraser to get the majority of grime off then used a polish to shine it up. i painted the logo black again to finish it off.

i was only able to use one of the door sills from my doner truck and one from my truck. i took the ruff stuff off with a scotch brite pad then clean them really good before laying down some primer. i finished them with rust-oleum truck bed coating. this is the same stuff i'm using for the homemade tool box that i took off the bed earlier.

i found some earlier pics showing the interior after i gutted it and sprayed krylon on it. also the second pic shows the bed before i did anything to it and the homemade toolbox.

    Great start...

Not a fan of flat bed pickups, but if a beer keg is used....hmmmm....

    Very '70's. Cool.

got the hood and cowls painted. i was going to go with a HRF hot rod flatz but their customer service sucked. i found this other single stage paint with great customer service and the exact color i was looking for. this one is supposed to have a really high UV protectant also. i guess time will tell.
