I went to my wife's family reunion a few weeks ago and took a day to see if I could find any car stuff. Well i sure as shit found some stuff. a `59 El Camino ( one of the few Chevys I would drive) and a `68 Triumph Bonneville. all within a single mile from my Inlaw's Ranch. At one point it was going to be a one or the other deal due to the limited funds I had, but my wife offered up her stash of money she was setting aside for antiques, and two days later I walked away with both. The Elco is still up at the inlaws, and I from what I was told by the son who is in his late 50's that his dad bought it new in `58 or `59 and drove it into town from the ranch as a grocery getter until the late 70's when he couldnt drive anymore. then his brother got it and rebuilt the motor and only drove it a little bit until he moved away, and so it sat in the barn and was started every once in a while until I scooped it up. it is in really good shape... I am amazed being that it snows alot where they live. The Bonny I had room to take home. and the guy I got it from offered up no info on it. So once i got it home i took it over my buddy Tom's house & it fired over in 3 kicks. Now we are bobbing it and I am going to give it to my wife for her birthday. to make this looong story short, the stuff is still out there guys, so keep lookin' & dont take no for an answer.
"so keep lookin' & dont take no for an answer." i never take "no" for an answer, it usually more like " you want how much for it, fuck it you can keep it then "
Sweet! That El C is gonna be nice...It IS nice!!! Cars and bikes come and go....but your woman is a keeper. Doing the bike for her is very cool. Your a lucky man in many ways!
Cool scores but just my 2 cents, that Bonnie is a WAYYYY to nice to chop up into a bobber plus 68-70 are about the best years for Bonnies. Cafe that beast and find a more roached bike to bob....
man, i saw on jockeyjournal what you paid for that bike... wel, alteast what you would admit... i wanna cry man
Listen to this dude! Never leave 'em the same, I say bob the hell out of it. And laugh when people ask you why.
I am bobbing it but nothing too crazy. it will all be able to be put back to stock and I am keeping all the take off parts...
That makes me feel better.....I don't really like bobbers anyway and that is a REALLY bitchin' bonney. Although if it runs and rides I'd be tempted to just put gas in it and go......
dAMN nice score! The only thing I ever come back with are leftovers. But I do love me some leftovers! FONZI
While working on the bike last I found out that the numbers dont match, so I do feel a bit better about bobbing it. not that I was not going to do it in the first place.
