my name is Boden. I’m 14 years old. Grew up around cars always been in love with cars. Bought this 53 ford a while back in January for $2500. All stock. 2 door sedan customline. It’s a fordomatic car. But I’m planning on putting in a 4 speed toploader someday. For now I just want to get it on the road. I’m planning on next summer customizing it and painting it. But this is what I have done so far. Rebuilt the motor(merc crank, SU1A cam, sharp heads, polished and cut valves, ported and relieved, .040 pistons, crank cut .010/.010 since it has been in a junkyard since the 50s. And two stock 94s, it’s also has a dual point converted distributor from the 50s I rebuilt). I work at a machine shop so I was able to do all of the work myself for free. Now the car has some slight modifications. 3” blocks in the rear, one coil cut out of the front springs, nosed and decked and that’s all for now. Now what I have redone to it that is stock is brakes, wiring, fuel system and that’s it. Here are pictures of what’s done so far. Great car - and good start on the work you have done so far....

My first car was a 53 Ford Convert - V8, 3speed. This was in .....oh, very early 60s . I used the same 2x2 manifold with dual exhausts , otherwise stock . Chev V8 was ready to go in when car was rear ended - I fixed the damage myself and used the insurance money to buy a 55 Chev hardtop - with V8 already in it ......

I have always been a custom guy - body work I did to the 53 was: drenched headlamps , rounded hood corners , scoops in rear fenders , nosed and decked , 53 Olds tail lamps. Sort of the usual mild custom stuff. Later I went to 56 Packard taillights. Lowered front and rear with cut coils and blocks.

One thing I notice on your car is rear spring shackles are reversed - sort of fighting the rear lowering blocks. Put the shackles the proper way and get another few inches lower - as well as a more stable car.

Good luck on your great 53 - if I can help in any way PM me - I MIGHT remember something about my 53 - which I also got at 14 !!

That’s a great start on a great car! Keep up the good work. Working in a machine shop will certainly help you develop valuable skills.

Super awesome! What a Coincidence! That picture was taken before I lowered the car by the way. And I’m pretty sure the engine was out also.

Yes sir. Learned a lot there. It’s a dying trade and I’m trying to keep it alive. Trying to get my friends into it also.

Started laying the wires down to the taillights. These will all be covered before installed for good. But the plan is to run them along the arch of the tunnel to try and hide them as much as possible instead of fishing them through the old passages.
