Projects My 52 Ford F1 Project

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by 52 Ford F1, Mar 13, 2012.

  1. Still working as I go.
Bolt check yielded several bolts shaking a little loose or expansion, worth the time to go back and check before it gets too far down the line.
Interior needed some kick panel speakers to compliment the under seat radio. It plays right from a headphone jack on my phone once through an amp.

Installed new seat and the interior is basically done. Did go with passenger lap belt. Pregnant wife can change some perspectives and having my son go with me is something I am looking forward too.

Finally, another local car show and photos. Learned more about "judging" at car shows, and despite lack of knowledge it did very well.

Still tinkering, plenty more on the dream list and that pesky punch list.

One last thing to gripe about.. one of the few things I felt I needed to have a shop do is set the aod cable and shifter... I've had to bring it back twice and it's worse after I pick it up again... It seems as if they refuse to take the time to have 1 person move the shifter above to make sure the gears line up with another below at the same time. . . That and not using thread lock and/or forgetting to tighten it down in place hard enough... at least the cable seems to be set right. end gripe.

Interior looks great, and I love how the pickup has turned out, very nice.

  3. Installed a drop axle, bought aftermarket but in hindsight should have gone with SIDS dropped axle.

Had some issues with the u bolts fitting in the axle and the thread not going up far enough, spindle clearance (needed machining) shock clearance (needed upper mount spacers), and the usual snapped bolts, but got it figured out... 20190203_160635.jpg 20190216_174930.jpg

3 inches rake from front of running board to rear for now, but with the rear axle swap on the to do list I can refine the front with tires or springs after.

Better afters have to wait for a lot of snow to melt....

IMG_0066.JPG Great looking truck, glad you put a Windsor in it. I put a Windsor in my F1 51 in 1995 and still get positive comments for having a Ford in a Ford.
My M3 runs a big flathead!
The rule of thumb I learned while building the F1 was 5 inches at the front of the running board. You will find out when you go over a speed bump and the truck comes down.
