  4. Awesome. It was my fist time going there, so now I know to get there earlier as it seems we missed a lot of the cars. Glad you got to see it though. Thanks for the compliments.

I'm always a late arrival on Friday nights so I'm lucky if I can catch everyone as there leaving. I like the radio tech I need to do that to my wagon. Keep the updates coming

  6. Next project up is frenching the headlights. It's taking me a long time because underneath the old paint was about 1/4" of bondo over dented up sheet metal. And I wasn't exactly sure how I was going to be able to get the stainless trim rings on once the bezels were welded. But once I figured that out, I got to welding, grinding and spreading bondo. I'm still figuring out how to apply the bondo smoothly. Here's what I have so far. I'll start on the other fender when I have more time this week.

dude. i just started to follow your build i really like how its going so far. i got a few things here.

    1. are the vicky wheels bases longer than the mainline?
    2. what is your paint code for this car? im digging the factory color

  8. Thanks.
I believe the chassis are the same. Just different bodies and trim
I'm not sure the original paint. There are a few colors under this. Someone at sometime in the past had nosed, decked and removed the side trim and repainted it. But I just grabbed a can of color match ford green from the local auto parts store to touch up where I do the body work, and it is fairly close. Just glossier and a bit more pearl.

Ok. It's just seems like they Vicky is longer.
I like the green on there. Under the red oxide on my car is the original blue that I would have never touched. Too bad I bought the car with the blue already covered up

  10. Ya that is a good blue. Too bad. Who knows why people do the things they do. I wonder if part of it was wrecked and they painted I've the whole thing?
I know that my car was wrecked a some point and I'm slowly seeing clues the more I dig in.
I've lowered my car quite a bit. That with the skirts and the hard top are probably what make it look longer.

Could be. How did you lower it. I got my car with 2inch blocks in the rear and cut coils in front.

  12. Cool. So my car is lowered a total of 6" in back and 5 1/2" up front. I used 3" blocks and de-arched original leaf springs in back and up front I used ford aerostar springs and 2 1/2" dropped spindles. The spindles came with a disk brake setup from drop-n-stop.
There is a lot of info on here for lowering these cars. Check this group out if your not a part of it yet. A lot of good info in the stickies. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/social-forums/1952-59-ford-social-group.282/

  14. Thanks!

Today after work I welded on the other headlight bezel and started layin some bondo. This fender was really tweaked bad at one point. It took quite a bit of manipulating to get the ring to weld all around. Hopefully this weekend I'll have time to finish sanding and lay some primer. You car is looking mean in the garage.

I'm waiting to see how you mount your headlights in. I never really knew how someone gets headlights or taillights in/out after frenching

No, just take the front tire off and remove from the backside.

  19. Exactly what slopok said. You just turn the mounting clips backwards, cut the lip of the bucket off so it fits flush on the back side like this ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1429104957.854459.jpg
It makes adjusting them a real pain In the ass. But it looks cool!
