I also threw these on when I snapped some pictures last. Though with these it seems like my last rims must have had a slightly smaller inside lip cause these don't take any effort to get on and just pull right off. Maybe the teeth all need to be bent out slightly to grab tighter? Anyone had to do that?

  3. Thanks man I do like the tail dragger look too. I may throw some spring pads in up front that may raise it a little.
Damn right their a great band!

I had to bend the tabs on my car. On the the maiden voyage it threw one of the hub caps. Bent the tabs out and no more problems.

I really like what you are doing for your car. I like the look of the white wall peaking out from under the skirt in the top pic, but there is too much tire in front. I think the fix would be tire size and amount of WW that falls in between those two pics. Just IMHO.
Best Regards and good luck with all you endeavors,KB.

  7. This is how I will be mounting my sombreros:
    ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1468210593.833626.jpg
3 bar spinner mounts will be installed behind the wheel
    ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1468210621.616627.jpg
Large fender washer epoxied to center of cap to locate center for 5/16" bolt ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1468210676.176856.jpg
With cap attached there is about an inch gap. I will use rubber spacers to take up the gap and give a secure mount to the center of the adapter
    ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1468210720.952910.jpg
My 55 ford caps should be here tomorrow. I will modify those to work as center medallions to cover the bolt and use double sided tape to secure. I'll post up the finished product when it's done.

  8. I started working on the center medallion mounting today.
I cut out the center of a 55 ford cap ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1468787311.086224.jpg
Cleaned it up on the grinding wheel and installed the ford medallion

    ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1468787343.412696.jpg
Right now I'm waiting for the JB weld to dry. I epoxied the ford center to the ribbed caddy center
    ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1468787391.757803.jpg
And those will go on after the hubcap is mounted to the wheel

I finally got them mounted today. A few times around the block and they havnt fallen off yet. Hopefully the double sided tape holds. I got the centers bolted down and used an extra large dose of blue locktite.

The hubcaps look great!Remember when I told you last year that time would fly by and you'd be driving this beauty? My new prediction is that you'll never be able to sell it because you put everything you had into it(spiritually) and you'll never let it go :)

    That's right where it belongs.

  20. I don't have a lot to show unfortunately. I've had family in town, an Oregon road trip and two local camping trips in the past 2 months. But, I got my hood hinges rebuilt by Rowland Hall in Burbank. He is a wizard with these hinges. He re engineered them and made them better than new. They will be going back on shortly.
I did take the car to another local car show. Everyone seemed to love it. ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1475383990.825680.jpg

The car show was in a movie set so when no one else was around I peeled off to an empty area to get these shots.

She looks great just the way she is,but after the hood is remounted I sense more work on her. :)

  23. Thanks guys. Ya once the hood is mounted, I'll probably get to work on narrowing the grill and rounding the hood corners.

  24. I accidentally left my ignition on all night and boiled the oil out of my coil. It was in a big puddle on the ground and all over the front of the engine and my battery was completely dead. Lesson learned.

Its been said but your wheel covers came out killer!

  27. It sure doesn't hurt to hear it again though. Haha. Thank you! I definitely got some good ideas from guys on here.

  28. Yesterday after leaving the wheel balancer, I noticed a loud clunk when we lowered the car off the jacks and then driving away it continued. It was from the rear and it would happen under acceleration and deceleration. Come to find out the factory shock mount broke off. I wish I would have taken it out and re-welded it before the exhaust and rear end were in the car. The factory seemed to do a pretty shitty job at welding it. Using gas shocks must have put too much force on it. Now I can't even get it out of the car to clean it up and re-weld it. Got to figure something out now.
