Here's my get in and go project. Lot of history with this truck. My dad acquired the truck when he was 13 for cutting weeds. Got it running and drove it around a few years until he got it stuck and blew the head gasket. He got it back together but never running quite right. So time goes by and marriage then I come along so it sat for 30 years or so. A few years ago I decided to bring it down off the mountain with hopes of driving it. It sat at my house another 5 or so years until I got the urge to get it going. So new intake exhaust gasket, new points, coil, plugs, and cleaned the carb and it was good to go. After got it running found more bugs and changes the radiator and water pump. Gas tank began to leak so set another one in the bed and got a new master cylinder. Some wire replacing and now it's my weekend cruiser. The truck itself belonged to a big name local contractor in the 40s-60s responsible for our court house and many local high schools and much of the downtown and east side curbs. It's been a great conversation everywhere I go. Help from my grandpa getting it free from the hillside. Putting it to work
Yes, the red one still has its 228- a great little torque monster. And it also has its original 4-speed trans, which taught me how to double-clutch! Slightly larger tires, 6:50-16's, boosted its comfortable top speed to about 60mph.
Great Truck and the car on the trailer thanks for the pictures Sent from my SM-N910V using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
I like it! My father-in-law has a '46 GMC he and his Dad restored in '80. In the past few years, he built a 270 with dual zeniths for it and is now in the process of putting a T5 behind it.
I may be interested. I'm not looking to change too much of the appearance though. I would like to restore the interior and make it a little more distance capable.
