Hot Rods My 41 Chevy P/U Build

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by swade41, Jan 9, 2010.

  1. I lost about a month waiting on the trans to get re-cased. During that month I got the biopsy back, negative on lymphoma, negative on lung cancer but positive for sarcoidosis. They ordered another cardiac mri to see if the sarcoid was in my heart which isn't good at all.
Just a note to you guys, if you feel anything weird going on that you think could be heart related, go get checked out.
Got the trans back and started the process all over again with the correct A-N fittings this time. Had my helper out in the garage and ask him if the new seats were comfortable, had my answer 5 minutes later..lol
He did help me to get the combo back in though.

  2. Got the mri results back and no sarcoidosis in the heart at present time and my heart pump is back up to normal. Which is great news and they are putting off the defibrillator addition to my pacemaker !
So hey, let's keep plugging away at this thing. Time to run fuel lines (twice)...lol First was mounted to firewall then I thought that's not NHRA legal so let's make it legal just in case I want to take a trip.
After trying the regulator in a hundred locations I decided on a bracket off the blower itself . In this spot valve cover access is good as well as the fuel line not laying on anything hot. 20160203_154729.jpg

  3. New seats are in and now to fitting the new down flow radiator, replacing the crossflow.
I got some 2x3 channel and split it down the middle on the wide side to give me a 2x1.5 "U" channel. The 2 inch fits right between the flanges on the radiator sides attached with some 1/4 20 bolts.
To attach it to the frame will be 90 degree mounts out of 1/8th x 2 straps. Welded nuts on the back side of the U channel to capture the 3/8's bolts going through the strap and U channel.
Up top same U channel, 3/8's rod out of firewall with heims on the ends. This location will also mount the tilt front end limiting cables.
Other than that I picked up some wheelie bars for the Henry J that came packed with freaking leaves. I've seen some weird packing material but never leaves...lol 20160210_151214.jpg 20160210_152436.jpg

  4. Got to laughing about the leaves and forgot the picture of the seats. 20160108_180605.jpg 20160108_180605.jpg

Definitely nice to hear good new on health issues.
ditto what Dooley said about the truck.

  7. Good to see somebody is making progress. Good to hear your health issues are looking up.-MIKE

  8. Thanks guys, as long as it stays out of my heart I can live with that. No pun intended.

  9. Good news all around, really - there's much to be thankful for.

I lived in Williamsville (?), Cheektowaga, and on Parkridge Dr in Buffalo when I was in grad school @UB. You could say I sewed some pretty wild oats during my time there .... good times and many fond memories there to be sure ....

  10. I moved to Buffalo from your area, stationed at Ft. Eustis. Lived off base near Central Autoparts, spent a few bucks in that place, my wife at the time worked in Williamsburg. Funny stuff

  11. You got that right ...

  13. It's alive..........it's alive ! I had it running for right about 6 minutes, slight leak at the fuel pump and only got to about 150 degrees.

  15. Made a bracket and mounted the tach today so I think that's a good excuse to let it run tomorrow..ha ha 20160313_171302.jpg

  16. I've been working on the dash as of late. I had widened the guage cluster hole, welded in a 4x4 section in the ribbed windshield crank hole area, welded up the headlight switch hole and reduced the cigarette lighter hole for the headlight switch to fit there. I got it all smoothed out, primed and painted, then reinstalled. I added the same year coin under the headlight switch besel, I always try and add the same year coins in my builds.
Still need to wire a few things up and clean up the wires under the dash but now I can get a windshield made. 20160506_185140.jpg 20160506_192509.jpg 20160520_151609.jpg 20160524_164453.jpg 20160525_145019.jpg 20160526_194506.jpg 20160526_194726.jpg

very cool, I expect there will be some giant tire marks down the street....

  23. Ha, these tires are so old they don't even smoke, yes I did a bit of a burnout in the garage. By the way I seen you in the 36 Thursday morning, I honked but you didn't see me in the silverado. I still have to pull the front hubs and make sure everything is good in there, a front end alignment, needs a windshield, need to make an inner brace for the tilt nose and wire the head/tail lights plus a few other smaller things like painting the floor etc etc

i saw you too late....i was going to text you but i had fan issues and had to turn around as i started overheating...all fixed now

  25. I'm still trying to figure out the electric fan thermostat on this thing, I think the toggle switch was way easier...lol
I reviewed the wiring again on line and it looks like I need a wire direct from battery besides the keyed ignition switch, pretty weird that it needs two power sources to work.

I have a few schematics at work, you can use both a temp switch and an on off toggle, and you should use a relay too, my schematics show what leads go to what...
