I've always heard that "anyone can restore an old car, it takes a real man to cut one up". Living proof right here folks.:D Be sure to keep posting any further progress.

Got my buck done and mounted. Also got the beginning of the lower panels started. Sorry for the bad pics. It's a real humid in Austin today. I feel bad for the guy's driving in for a lone star.

That is indeed looking good! I think it would look good with a Duvall style windscreen like Blackroads!

Great project, I winced a little when you cut the roof off but you obviously know what you're doing. Very cool!

Been working on the side panels last couple days hopefully this weekend I'll have the whole back end back off and finish weld it and put it on permit. Still needs to the corners for the Trunk lid at this point and the side reveal. ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1397774599.017967.jpg ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1397774615.659958.jpg

Really nice work man, but could you speed it up a little? Its been almost 3 weeks since you started this, and I'm getting impatient to see what its going to look like finished.

  19. I'm trying. But like most of us the day job tends to get in the way.

Hopefully going to finish up my tail pan this weekend. it's all welded and ground. 19 separate pieces. just needs some hammer and Dolly work and a little bit of finish welding.

    realy nice project!

it's very interseting for me, I will cut my 35 sedan soon ;)

  26. Some crazy metalfabrication going on here.Been following this from the start and you´re doing a fantastic job.Keep it up

  27. Thanks for all the kind words. Yes I know this seems like a bit of a crazy idea. But giving how expensive 35/36s coupes have gotten it's almost the only option. When I was looking for a car they were either way out of my range or almost beyond repair. I've seen some really ruff cars come back from the dead. If you think about how much time goes into fixing a really rough coop. doing the conversion from the sedan is almost less work. obviously you have to have the skills or the money. Especially if you're talking about doing a full custom type built then it really doesn't matter. better off cutting up a sedan. ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1398540086.971439.jpg

Weld grind hammer dolly repeat. The tail section is now a permanent part of the car. still has a long way to go in terms of cleanup. But I made it and it's there. And for the most part I'm pretty happy with it. A little lead and a little love and it will good to go.
