The crazy thing is you have got so much done and the car is so close but now you are questioning completing it. The car is and will be killer finished. Forge on, you'll be glad you did! Button it up to a point where you can drive it around a bit, forget the nice paint and interior for now. Drive it and that will put a huge smile on your face Any thought of bailing out will be erased
Traditional Enough for who ? That car is bitchen dude !!! Who are you seeking the approval of ? The traditional tradition keeper ? The posers who were never there? Guys who were racing in the 50s ? The history rewriters? Joe public who thinks its a R..r.d? The cruise night guy who calls it a roadster? Grandma who thinks its a cute dune buggy? Neighbors who think its too loud? That asshole we all know who has a better one? The idiot who's got one just like it? Well ?
Well I am very happy with it just trying to figure out if it fits in with the traditional theme the HAMB is about. If its not that's fine with me but I would like to continue this thread without it being deleted
There have been casualties, yes Pm Ryan and ask the man directly. I don't think you have anything to worry about but I'm just a nobody who thinks your car is awesome!
How did I miss this update?! Looks killer! Can't wait to see a video of it running . Whose manifold did you use for the webers?
Hey GTO, your Poncho is coming together nicely. Its always cool to see something different. The use of the OHC Pontiac engine was a nice touch. Its gonna look bitchin' when it's "done". (we all know that hot rods are never really done).
Thanks that's what I have been trying for May have to change rear tires I think these look to wide I think regular 8.20 stones might look better
Are you going to be running any sort of plate or insulation between the top of the header pipes and the carbs? The way it "looks" now you will be boiling the fuel out of the carbs from header heat rising.
I have heat shields for the bottom of the carbs and will be ceramic coating the headers so that should cut down the heat transfer. The carbs are actually out past the headers so that helps too I have talked to other people running this setup on this type engine and they haven't had any issues so I think I will be ok after all in the factory setup the intake and exhaust manifold are bolted together with an exhaust riser under the carb
Well with the frame at the painters I got the m20 rebuilt and fitted with the mcleod hyd throwout bearing and got a driveshaft made
You must be like a kid on Christmas morning, waiting to see that painted and assembled! What a great build. Definately nails the 60's traditional look dead on. Thanks for sharing the build with us all.
Yes I am it has been a difficult couple months getting to this point after the fab cost went way over budget I didn't think this was going to get finished. I have to thank the people on this site for encouraging me to just get to it now in a month it will be painted and assembled with just some minor things to do and an interior but I have seats a dash and a steering wheel so I can wait for the rest
