[I've owned this car for almost 17 years. Started with a body I got in a trade deal. December of 99 is when I started. 2004 it was on the road. I was never a picture taker or documentor of anything I built or painted in the past. So I have very few pictures of this cars first life. I've got a smartphone now so I'm getting better! In 09 I broke the driveshaft at the Antique nationals. That got the ball rolling for my rebuild.
    • The first picture is when I broke it. image.jpeg The day I broke it ATTACH=full]3235258[/ATTACH] Now unchanneled. Nose is being roughed out.rebuild. View attachment 3235238 New firewall with recess for engine. View attachment 3235225 View attachment 3235194 image.jpeg image.jpeg Hoodside with frame cover welded in. I bobbed the frame horns but kept the spring over axle configuration image.jpeg image.jpeg New firewall and recess. Valve cover now fits under cowl!

I'm in love with the exhaust and I can't even see all of it.

This is where i'm at now. Paneling in the interior. I'm going to add some inserts with the same upholstery as the seat to break up the metal. IMG_0560.JPG IMG_0561.JPG IMG_0557.JPG IMG_0575.JPG IMG_0486.JPG IMG_0593.JPG

Front kick panel area kicked my ass! I built a hoop under the dash that supports the midget steering and the pedal assembly. It's offset a little to the left for pedal room. I had to get creative to make everything fit. IMG_0605.JPG

I like aluminum interiors but I think they can get out of hand quick! So i'm trying to keep it subtle if there is such a thing with a racecar interior! IMG_0592.JPG IMG_0594.JPG

Thanks! Ryan encouraged me to post this. Been a member since 2002. Didn't post much but have always enjoyed the build threads. I've got a lot of ideas, information and inspiration over the years from the Hamb!

These are all I have of the roadsters first life. About 02 to 04.My buddy Bruce's body shop. My body shop in the early 90's was next door and we remained good friends. I did some paint work as rent.I lived in an apartment back then and had no place to keep my tools or car, but they say when there's a will there's a way!! IMG_0771.JPG IMG_0770.jpg IMG_0769.jpg

  16. Fantastic to see build shots Pat, glad to see you posting this on the HAMB. I have liked you roadster since seeing 'The Rodder's Journal' article. I like it even more with the track nose, incredible aluminium work.

Very nice. I, too, have previously admired this car but your changes are taking it to the next level. Thanks for sharing them. I'm collecting ideas here. Subscribed for the ride.

Yeah I remember this car from TRJ too, I wouldn't consider it a rat. That thing was quality built back then and it is for sure quality built now. Great work. Do you happen to know what happen to that pick up that was in the same TRJ? That thing was awesome too.
