Yes. 30 years ago I could do that. For three miles at a time. But as I grew into my full glory, I just got to uncomfortable. Even for a mile and a third.

  6. Really looking forward to seeing how you pull this off! Im toying with the idea of puting a 235 in a model a while making it look proportional. Subscribed

love this build. Loving the motor especially. Cant wait to see more. Was your exhaust manifold modified to fit the intake or did everything just bolt together?

  11. It all just bolts together.

    East Coast all the way!-

These were cheap before the Boston guys ( like @Pete ) started using them.;)

Man, where did you find those adapter plates?!

  13. One came with the Q.C. from a yard sale! Of course the man having the yard sale was Russ Betz former N.A.S.C.A.R. Modified owner.

The 2nd was a swap meet find from Rich Ricci a good outlaw modified runner.

    Nice choice of engine.
Don't forget the steam vents on the 848 head.
The simplex cover is neat. Never seen one like it.
I believe the 261 rods are shorter than the gmc and using the Buick Pistons only work with that combo.

  15. I am ordering a 261 head gasket Monday for the machine to use as a jig for the steam holes.

I have been working on some small parts at work I plan to have photos by the end of the week.

I am currently without shop space

I am doing a full flow oil filter conversion on an early 261 block using a 58-62 261 filter.

This is the mounting bracket I built-

  19. Just dropped some parts at the machine shop, more photos soon.

Working 50 hours a week makes it tough to work on projects.

Robert- to echo everyone else's thoughts, love the build ideas. It was great meeting you at Fitchburg; sorry I was so busy "minding the store" and didn't get to talk more.- I have a feeling you'll be in N.J. this fall, so our paths may cross again! Keep up the good work!

  25. A few photographs of the rest of the sheet metal-

Hey Robert, if you want, I have a decent firewall just taking up space at the "double u" garage. It is not perfect but maybe you can use all or some of it. PM or call me. I cannot wait to see you truck come together. Ron

  28. Steam holes are in the head.

Next up a .040 cut, will get some photographs up when it is finished.

  29. Very nice. Engine is gorgeous. Subscribed.

  30. Stopped in the machine shop to take some photographs after work.

    I forgot the camera.:confused::rolleyes:

The steam holes have been added to the head and milled .052"

The pistons have been balanced as well.
