Found this in a local barn. Had not seen the light of day in 7 years. Owner bought a restored car never drove it and passed away. Then I found it yesterday, it took 10 minutes to get running and I just took it for a ride. Tires were flat most of the time and are junk. For now no real plans. Just clean it up.
not a barn find...you bought a dead guys car from his widow that was parked in their garage... real barn find cars take more than 10 minutes to get running. yeah, you can tell I'm tired of the barn find moniker. where's my beer?
I SEE THREE PEDALS!!!! Sweet! No floor shifter, so I assume it's a 3 on the tree(?). What's it got under the hood? Looks like a sweet ride! Chris
I think we need the rules for a real barn find. You know , what kind of barn, what kind of car. You know, so we don`t have to shit on some guys parade when he posts .
That is a great BARN FIND indeed... Good for you.. And ignore the "Can Rats"....looks like one has been a bit restless lately..more than likely jealousy..
I made this killer barn find yesterday. I was driving down this old road in Houston (I-10) when I caught a glimpse of a shiny front end. Corvette! I looped back and there was not just one but 7 of them lined up! They were mint - highest mileage on any of them was "12"! I went inside the barn and this guy comes up and tells me how glad he is I stopped. It turns out the 'vettes were built by some people over in Kentucky, several of whom had family members die in the past 5 years, and they had shipped them over to Texas to be sold off to anyone with enough cash and/or proper credit. He gave me a free latte and took me around the back of the barn and I was blown away - he even had 24 service bays and he told me if I bought one of the 'vettes I could bring it back for any work it ever needed!
Seven years? Thats not long. Hell, I have got at least 8 cars now that have been stored over 10 years, some nearly 20. But...yeah, its still a find. Better you found it now while its a nice car than later when its a rusted out pile of a parts car. Good save. I love those 63-64 Galaxies. I just sold one that I had stored away for about that long.
With that 390 it really needs a top loader 4spd. Not all that difficult to change and if you do it you'll never own another 3spd stick. Frank
I was going to suggest searching for the official "How do I clean a barn find" thread. Very nice; the only thing I find in barns is hay and baby robins that have fallen out of the nest. Oh, and bovine "by-products."
Nice 63.5 Galaxie! My favorite year, my uncle had a red one he bought new. His was 390 3 on the tree bench seat, red inside and out. He bought a wrecked 63.5 that had a 427 two 4 barrels and four speed with buckets, swapped in the 427 and sold the rest, didn't want to change his red interior to black buckets. He eventually sold it to his younger brother, who sold it to his brother in law, and then I lost track of it. I wanted it bad, still do, but doubt I'll ever see it again....
7 years!?! I had a bike in my back shed for 5 years, and no one called THAT a 'barn find'. She's a nice car, but it's already been restored, which really means it was exactly what it was called before - an old man's car that outlived him. But, what the hey, enjoy it, I would. Cosmo
If nobody wanted it would it be a "barn find" or just a junk/old bike in a shed? Give the guy a break. Who cares?
I caught a case of stinkfinger in my Grandpa's barn when I was a teen...now THAT's a barn find! Nice car, by the way.
