Hot Rods My 1929 roadster is done!! Final update #8 with lots of pics!

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Chris, Jun 11, 2009.

  1. Well, it's been a long journy. For those who forgot or do not know, this was kind of a test for myself. I bought this body right before Christmas on Ebay. It was the bare body. I didn't get to pick it up until Febuary. After getting it home, I decided I had enough parts around that I could build a late 30's style roadster in 2 months. It took me 3. I started off by digging my frame out of a 3' burm of snow, and starting from the ground up. This car is simple, yet shows my vision of wat a poor kids hot rod would look like in that era.
This is the first chapter in this cars new life. It is rusty and unfinished now, and down the road when I have a bit more time it will come apart to be made nice, and will get a 1934 flathead V8, again done in the late 30's-early 40's tradition. For now it will be a fun summer beater :D

I would like to thank Zach Suhr, he inspired me to get off my butt and build this thing, ad to everyone else for the words of encouragment and ideas along the way.
    Heres the past 7 builds.

So here she is. I took it for a 15 mile drive today, did great aside form running a bit rough- may need the carb blown out. Still needs some odds and ends, and some minor tweaking, but the car is what it is.....for now!
    Thanks!

Jamie and I on the first drive. She has "roadster hair" something fierce!!!

  5. Chris,

It looks bitchin' congrats on getting it finished, it makes me wish I would have just put my roadster together instead of having it in a thousand pieces right now trying to get it painted.

Now skip your friends wedding and take that thing to Billetproof in two weeks.

  6. Just what I expected a nicely put together uh stockerish/gow job/hotrod. Great job Chris!:D-Weeks

I like. Does this mean you'll be towing it over to Chehalis at the end of the month?

Makes me wonder why some of us go to so much trouble changing stuff. That thing kills most of them without even trying. Less is much much more.

    Well done indeed

that was quick... now you just need to get some greasy feet and give that fresh wood some patina age to blend in.. hope to see it on this side of the mountain this summer
