  4. No pictures but today my 78 year old hot rod buddy hooked me up with a good flywheel, clutch and disc. Also temp senders and a bearing for the flywheel. It is like going to the mall when I stop there:D

  5. I blasted the flywheel and noticed the ring gear was bad. I have a good one on another flywheel so I switched them. I heated it up with the rose bud and pounded it off. I cleaned up the rust on the flywheel, reheated the ring gear and dropped it on. That was easy!

Then I put the exhaust manifolds on the engine that were blasted and painted with high temp paint.

Great little truck, and great build-up. Thanks for the photo-story.

    I love that rear bumper.

  7. ...that's gonna be way too nice !

  8. The boys and I went to the junk yard Saturday because I heard they had an old bus with the seats still in it. My plan is to mount the bus seats in the box and make them removable so I can haul the kids and nieces and nephews at Back to the 50's and Iola. I grabbed a third seat for the cab because I don't have a seat and it will cost about $600 to get springs and have them covered. This will work for now.

  9. I made more progress on cleaning up small parts and priming them. The starter is next.

How wide is the bus seat you picked up? I got ahold of some real nice old theater seats but they are to wide to fit on my 27 tudor :(

  14. It is 38". It is out of a early 70's bus.

  15. Here are some more progress pictures. My Edmunds intake does not work with this style generator so I am going to run this stock intake for now. I have the wire lools on and the starter and generator painted and installed.

Since I could not find the right fan spacer, I made a stock on fit by machining it down and welding it.

How old is this gas? It is from the fuel pump on this engine. I am going to replace the pump.

  16. I got all the small parts hung and primed with the help of David.

    what type ?

  18. No spray cans, I used Acme etch primer and a hvlp spray gun.

cool the job looks good, i was just wondering about the cans in the pic.

  20. Ohhhhhh, that is Rustoleum I was using on the generator and starter, and some misc engine parts.

  21. Today I sprayed black on the hanging parts and the frame.

  22. Tonight we started a little bit of assembly. We put the front spring together and mounted it in the frame.

  23. I am rebuilding the brake and cluth pedal assembly. I took it all apart and sand blasted all the pieces and primed and painted everything. I put new bushings in the pedals, but the pin is badly worn. A new pin is $25.00 but I wanted to build my own. I started with a 7/8 x 8" grade 5 bolt.

I chucked it up in the lathe and parted it.

Then I spun it around and turned the head to size.

To finish it off, I had to drill a grease hole down the center and tap the end for a 1/8" grease fitting. Then I had to cross drill it for the grease to get to the pedals. And that is it. Now it is ready to install. It took about 1 hour to do.

  25. Today I primed my rims (steel wheels:D), and primed the transmission.

Then I painted it black and mated it to the engine and put it in.
