I don't know anything about it. But I like it. <a href=http://s30.photobucket.com/albums/c350/abraun34/?action=view¤t=IMAG0414.jpg target=_blank><img src=http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c350/abraun34/IMAG0414.jpg border=0 alt=></a>
That is a great art deco transportation painting. Kind of spooky with the plane and the tower. Neat piece, nice find.
Yeah, 2 towers, a plane heading that way......strange ! Cool old picture though, if you don't think about 9-11. Don
looks like a mural under a bridge by my aunts house, theres alot of people painted in it as well, but its still very similar. i like it for a dollar!
. The picture appears to be an Art Deco-ish Los Angeles as the building is City Hall or 'The Beacon' Note the stepped brown/red top..... The top features a rotating spot light or 'Beacon' .
It appears to me to be a reflection of commerce, industry, and business ....Things that were once great in this country! I like it also.
I like it too, it looks remakably like the one that i found a number of years ago in a pile of stuff that was going to be thrown away.
I dig it! wish I could find something like that for a buck. lucky! Mostly garage sales around here have old lady stuff.
I love the "art deco" car stuff , I have two posters framed and hanging in my kitchen . Very Cool Score.
Definitely a neat piece and the price was right as well.The only problem I see is that the aircraft(probably a Lockheed Constellation)is from the 1950's(although it was designed prior to WWII)whereas the truck screams 1930's as does the overall theme of the picture. Have you tried to see if there is a signature(sometimes hidden within the painting such as the lettering on the truck)either on the front or the back?Sometimes the information is printed on the very edge of the print(usually in the lower right side corner)and the frame obscures it. Whatever the case you didn't go wrong.
You should take it on antiques road show and you probably got super lucky and it's worth like $10k and you bought it for a dollar!! that'd be pretty sweet. I was watching it one night with my lady and this guy brought in a painting that these ppl were going throw out if it didn't sell at their garage sale - guy bought it for $5 and it was worth nearly $7k I love these kinda things - good find.
The artist is quite well known and did a series of these transportation themed paintings from which posters and lithogaphs were made. That one is called Rush Hour. He did a lot of neat stuff, if thats a numbered print it might be worth well north of a buck. Look up Robert La Duke http://www.google.com/search?q=Robe...kFsjF0AGKuJz4Dw&ved=0CFMQsAQ&biw=1104&bih=623 Some folks enjoy messing with them a bit
Hungry for more??? Some info on the artist http://www.westernartandarchitecture.com/artist/270/robert-laduke.html
