Yeah. The original repops from years ago just didn't have the machine quality they should have had to really match the originals and the steel quality. I know they were a bit noisy, but I don't think they were breaking unless you were putting a lot of power through them and were beating on them.

I believe they changed manufacturers and worked had to make a way better piece the second time around. Mac told me he would have no qualms running one of these.

He and I both agreed that original is best, but this should be just fine.

Clayton, have you tossed that broken cluster gear? I could use a broken one that I'm planning on modifying I can't see cutting up a good one. Can't wait to see this car come together.

    *New Update*

Not a whole lot has been going on around here on the TV8 build (So much going on), but I finished up the Zephyr box finally. Still have to finish up the front oil seal, but everything else is done.

    20190317_182501.jpg

I also got a start on two other boxes for buddies of mine that needs them..

We also found out recently that my wife and I are expecting a baby Girl towards the end of summer. As we are preparing and acquiring all the much needed Baby things....I did what any good, old car loving Father to be would do.

    I bought her first car...

Next Update should be bigger as we will be getting into some pattern making for the Federal-Mogul Heads.

    Stay Tuned!

Kids are life changing! Yours and theirs, but it's the best thing ever if you don't mind putting some things on hold. Like noboD said they aren't little for long but sometimes it will seem like forever.

So a lot has been going on here lately…just not so much on the hotrod front.

Little Charlotte came in August, so she has taken up a good portion of our time, but I have taken a bit of time to make a little progress on the V8.

The biggest thing are the patterns for the super rare Federal Mogul Heads. The patterns are finally done and printed, now all I need to do is finish the cleanup and detail work so we can get them cast.

    Compared to the originals:

The lettering was not quite right, so I did some hunting and found a pattern place in Ohio that still offers the old school vintage white metal pattern letters. They had the correct size, typeface and font as the original castings….so I will replace them on the new ones to make them as authentic as possible.

I also think I have found my radiator shell for this car. It a one-off, hand formed brass “Mystery Shell” that we think might be early Sprint car. Its beautifully made has just the right look to it.

I should be able to start laying chassis out in the next month or so (hopefully) so stay tuned.
