I'm putting the tank back in my truck, but I wanted to know if I need to use a bolt with a spring on it like the original had or can I use regular bolts?

my 48 International KB1 was mounted with springs in the stock position ,but when I put the one in the back I bolted it solid because it sits between the frame rails and doesn't protrude very far below the frame. the rear-end is the only thing that could possibly come in contact and the rear springs are so stiff that will never happen.

Use rubber strips or pads between the tank and the floor and at the bolt holes.

Rubber strips like an old bicycle tire or something thicker?

Something thicker like the strips of retread tires you find on the highway.
Cut to size you need with a cut off wheel die grinder.

These old frames flex. You don't want to stress the gas tank. Reuse the springs. Don

Thanks I'll use the spring and rubber between the tank and bed.
